They have never met head to head before which makes it challenging. Robredo is not ranked as high as Paire but Robredo has a lot of experience. I think Robredo wins this match.

The only advantage Paire has is his serve but it's not going to be be significant if the surface plays like a true clay tomorrow. If Paire can't get a lot of first serves in, he's dead meat cus Robredo will eat him up alive on the groundstrokes. Robredo has a lot more versatility on the groundstrokes in particular a very effective slice backhand which works well on clay.

I'm on Paire w/B& ldawg. I'm going on what I think Paire is capable of. I saw Robredo's first match and I think his backhand is a little lacking especially if you can get it deep but like MDF said he does make up for it w/ his slice BH where he has great feel. He has a good second serve too. BOL boys should be interesting. Hopefully they both show up.

Robredo has a lot of supporters. He was a top 5 player a few years ago before his injuries. At one point he was a beast on clay. But tomorrow will depend more on Paire than Robredo. I don't like the fact that Paire can't maintain long rallies which is important on clay. Perhaps his big serve can save him. That's going to be the critical stat for Paire tomorrow.

few years ago.. that was like in 2006.. i agree paire cant maintain important on clay. i watched tommy way back when he was in australia and i didnt like his style at all. i know this is a different surface and what not but paire as dog seems like a good pick. BOL

Robredo's scrappiness won him that first set. Nice comeback for the spaniard after being down a break.

Gratz Robredo backers! I still think Paire had a good chance to win but I accepted the mental game risk . I think these overwhelming majorities on TennisInsight are more right than wrong too.
