How is this 2-1 in the final set for Almagro...he's literally just standing on the baseline, hurt.

Wow this is a miracle. Almagro is holding serve with just one leg.

Unless Berdych or Djokovic has to play for five hours ... don't see how you can't love whoever wins that other match ... more so than you would have already. These guys are going to be drained.

It's not like the end is a surprise now, just cannot believe ESPN is this stupid. Hate that DirecTV loses the coverage after the first week.

Much props to Almagro for finishing this out. This looked like a for sure retirement.....Most pusses would have quit on sheer pride.

Nico just saved all the winning spread & over tickets from being cancelled.

I agree totally. Almagro made me money with some Ferrer parlays too by finishing it out, alot of guys would have quit.

The one thing that really stands out to me is how guys like Ferrer and Federer are crushing that notion of the age decline in tennis. Ferrer obviously has spirit, he doesnt sulk he just speeds up when he is down or nervous, but he has incredible stamina and physical conditioning. Ferrer had probably his greatest year last year at age 30 and he will turn 31 in April and Fed just keeps killing it at 31.

I've never liked Tipsaveric's attitude. As a player , yes loads of talent but his whining and yelling at spectators gets old.

Very true. Nothing worse than having money on a fighter who you know is going to finish the match even though they are going to lose.

Llodra is another impressive retiree. Davydenko, Malisse, Mathieu,Kiefer,Volandri. Del Potro has alot of retirements at a young age.

Davydenko is at the top for retirements of any active player, but he is under the microscope every time he retires after the sopot poland gambling scandal. It really makes you wonder sometimes what makes a player even play a match if they know they arent feeling well. Federer has never retired in a match, and only withdrawn from a few tourneys and he is 31 years old.

Berdych played like crap that first set. He was floating all his groundstrokes high allowing Djoker to pound.

Expect Berdy to pick it up a notch this second set.
