Nieminen dominated indoor series in 2010, finals here at Bangkok and didn't do too much last yr. I think Nieminen is in solid form right now but that's judging completely from his match vs Isner at USO I saw and just the rest are stats.
Petzschner is absolutely impossible to read... Retirement last week in St. Petersburg?? If we look past that he was real solid at USO with very tight matches with Mahut and Almagro. Great grass season before that
1-0 h2h back in 2009 for Petz
If we look at their games Petz can hold serve against anyone if he's on. The Nieminen I remember who dominated hard courts came up with crazy angles especially on the forehand, I think he will like Petz as a target at net and really have success with that. Petz backhand is usually just slice and dice and he could have trouble with Jarkko's forehand if it's on.
I like Nieminen here but I don't really know why, I just think because of his success at Bangkok last 2 yrs and what he is capable to do this time of the season. Petz is always dangerous indoors so who knows
I would probably skip unless someone else has a read

I'm thinking about fading the favourite here purely on the basis that this is a more even matchup then the odds suggest

Petz has basically become a doubles specialist with Melzer, I would not bet a dollar on him against ANYONE in singles until he shows me has the motivation and will to become a top 50 player. Nieminen has been pretty damn dreadful the last 6 months too, but at the stage of the game he is probably the 'safer' bet in this match, as the odds indicate.

I'm on Petz because it is really a coin flip but seems like Petz is a good value at +132 and seems to have performed better in the past six months than Nieminen. Took 1 unit. GL.

Couldn't agree with this more. That's why I didn't even look twice at the line. Good luck if anyone plays this match.
