    Books vs Sharps
Do Books make profit break even or just simply pay out to Professional Gamblers. Basicly what im trying to figure out is whats the Sharp/fan profit/debt ratio and are books making money or giving it away?

Most of the professionals are on the side of the House. If it were not this way, how could Vegas Sportsbooks stay in business?

Uhh... if the # of sharps was very small relative to the gambling public?

Problem is a lot of sharps make max bets, a lot more than the gambling public. A minority of sharps can in fact bring a sportsbook down. In particular a small one without any risk management. Having said this, with Bet Islands it went beyond this. You have a sportsbook that offered bonuses in a way that even a recreational bettor who bet big enough in proportion to his deposits could have had a positive expectation over time and drained this book of money. Bet Islands was in affect a sort of ponzi scheme, maybe not intentionally so, but there were elements of it in place. It was a book with great customer service, but terrible risk and financial management. SBR has to start rating books based on the quality of the management, not just simply whether or not they have made prompt payouts and are friendly and communicate often.

Actually, the way most Vegas Sportsbooks stay in business in with : slot machines, blackjack tables, crap tables and roulette wheels.

My understanding is that the sportsbooks are mostly seen as a something to bring people into the building. From a profit/loss on floor space, slot machines would be better.

Maybe so, but I just do not believe that there a large % of sharps winning at this game. A lot of people like to brag that they win in the long run and that they are Sharps. Don't think as many books would be in business if this was as easy of a game to beat like some make it out to be.
