#37Wasn't there a news last week or so, spreadex commented on abnormal betting (forgot which league, was it english championship?) pattern from two asian books, namely ibcbet and sbobet.
They could have an inside news but I believe most of them were hit hard by foreign punters, enough for them to price the side lower. Usually minor leagues have bigger spread and pretty low max bet. Any player who bet a max bet on the game can bring down 5-10pts on the odds, collapse if 3 or more punters hitting at max bet several times.Comment -

#39"The Fix" Soccer and Organised Crime - by Declan Hill. This book should be a "must" for every bettor. Just few dollars for a really good story.
according to this i would say that the game was fixed by asian/malaysian "groups" - the big stakes @ asian bokkies kept the odds down.
I think this is why.Comment -

#42Asians do not know shit. They just bet and bet large amounts.
Ever stand behind a Chinaman while he makes his bets at the track?
He will be 127 number combos on one race, and then wave the winning ticket around after the finish.Comment -

#44This greek game was fixed for 2-0. I couldnt believe the odds being offered for this game at half time when the score was 2-0.
2-0 was 1.40 on betfair and unders was 1.40 at half time.
When the score was 1-0 the asians just wouldnt change the over and under to over 2 they kept it at over/under at 2/2.5 with high odds then when the 2nd goal went in and at half time they was offering over/under 2.5/3 odds of 3.00 for over. I watched this game live and i was amazed at the not trying to score run of the game. It was quite funny actually.
Offering high odds on a game with 45 mins to go will draw alot of people in to bet the prices if they wasnt none the wiser.Comment -

the only reason i was watching hoping for some kind of fluke goal, and seeing what would happen then. about 5 minutes before the end one of the guys out of nowhere hit the ball from far towards goal, it rebounded off one of the defenders and the goalkeeper only just managed to save it (great save i must say). would have been classic if it wouldve gone in.Comment -

#46There was one fixed game in Italy a couple of years back, where obviously one player hadn't been told. He scored, and the reaction of his team mates was hilarious.
Then there was some African Cup game, where both teams were trying to lose - not because of fixed, but because they wanted to finish 2nd in the group rather than first, because next round opponents were known. They both ended up attacking their own goals......Comment -

also an example from the ghana league were both teams needing to win with bigger numbers than the other to get promotion end up winning 31-0 and 28-0 (after both being only 1-0 up at half time) .

#50I've the book since last month but never have the time to read it. Maybe I'll start next week
in the declan hill book there's even mention of an italian fix in which the wrong team scored by accident, and the coach of one team called the coach of the other team while in their dugouts in rage to ask them wtf they think they are doing. too bad the call was listened in to by police...

#51i saw it too. very entertaining, terribly boring though (one team had continous possesion, just keeping the ball in the middle and if ever a striker got the ball he did his best to pass it back as fast as possible or shoot wide at least 20 metres from the goal).
the only reason i was watching hoping for some kind of fluke goal, and seeing what would happen then. about 5 minutes before the end one of the guys out of nowhere hit the ball from far towards goal, it rebounded off one of the defenders and the goalkeeper only just managed to save it (great save i must say). would have been classic if it wouldve gone in.
You just got the feel that who organised this fix was in the crowd with his mob cause the players was just shitting themselves everytime they got the ballComment -

the big question always is: is it really a fix, or someone manipulating the market. it doesn't take that much money creating a fake move, letting others believe something is going on, and buying back your bet at a much lower price.Comment -

#59If they win, yes and if they do not win, no.
Some books absolutely love these type of matches:
12/17/2004 01:26 AM
SBR Bill Dozer reports: sportsinteraction (SBR rating D+) cheats player of winning wager. SIA has voided a wager on the UEFA cup match between Panionios and Dynamo Tblisi, citing that the match was fixed. SIA admits to suspecting that the match was tainted well before the start of the event yet they did not cancel this player’s wager until the game had concluded. SIA claims that they waited to void the wager in order to verify that the match was indeed fixed. These actions are unacceptable as the player risked his funds without the possibility of winning. If this wager had lost, and the event appeared unscripted, the player would have lost his funds.Comment -

This one looks like a rumour that got out of control. There was an odds drop on Terek, nothing unusual, then it spiralled. People started arbing against books, who promptly pulled the market.
Thus: prices dropping, markets being pulled, huge amount matched on betfair. Looks immediately like a fix, and others piled in ........ it all snowballs and you get a huge odds drop.Comment -

#61I have one question regarding the market, if someone knows
I know that bookies pulls the market when asians, pinny and betfair odds change and the arbers appears.
But my question is between asians, pinny and betfair. They're almost in line with each other. Who do you think is the market maker and whom of these follow the others?
My tip is Betfair is the market maker and the others (pinny and asians) just follow it. Am I right?

#67More likely everyone knows! Look at Italian football at the end of the season. I simply never bet on these matches nor am I interested in them. Earlier I was mentioning that books will always take profit from a so called fixed match. Things can get worse, as sites like BetFair will even report your "crooked" winnings to authorities and will you get back any money, if you lose?Comment -
