WillHill sportsbook policy change for German bettors

So what's the story behind that?
Not that i'd touch this poor excuse of a book anyways...

My uneducated guess is that they're following Betfair, 365, bwin, Tipico, BetAtHome, Jaxx and Nordwest Lotto and trying to get licensed in Schleswig-Holstein so they're cleaning up all of their activity in the country in the hopes of being able to operate legally in that one German state.

William Hill dont accept german custumoers anymore

14 days after my Paddypower account was closed same happened now with William Hill i still can play Casino or use their Poker Room but i am not allowed to make Sports wagers, and i am afraid other UK books will follow. german politics have decided online sportsbetting is illegal, god i am glad i have a swedish citizenship and a passport as well

I'd love to know how Germany thinks it can get away with that in the single market though.

Worst case scenario you have local tipico betting shops.
Willhill and all the UK bookies will come back to Germany but in a regulated market, they did the same in Spain.

a guy from germany has explained the new law in germany in another thread : you can bet maximum 1.000 EUR a month and you pay 5% tax on each bet
