#2Would think it depends somewhat on how much your 8 clients are wagering each week. If a lot, you may be able to negotiate a higher cut for yourself.Comment -

#3Exactly.
Eight can be a gold mine, or a big nothing for you.
Very important question, are you doing the collecting and paying, or was this simply a referral situation. And if it is a referral sit, have you vouched for your players.Comment -

#5You made a deal to do it for 15%, right? So now that you know your business partner's bottom line, you want to put the squeeze on him? If you were not happy with 15%, why did you agree to 15%? I guess I am just old school -- where a deal was a deal, even if you might have been able to get a better one. I don't think I would like to do business with you. If you want to renegotiate your deal, maybe your partner will not want to do business with you anymore either. ( I don't know what percentage is normal in this business, but there are a lot of other factors to consider. Do you pay out if your customers win? Do you collect 15% of their volume even if they win? Do you always make deals and then try to back out later? ) However, here is an idea you might like if you truly feel you are being taken advantage of. Find another local and see if he would be willing to pay more than that.Last edited by BranchDavidian; 06-23-12, 01:40 PM.Comment -

#7I think you should get minimum 40%. Possibly up to 60% with no risk. You're giving your local a gift by not just taking your 8 guys and putting them on $100/max wager and going to any PPH shop and taking it yourself.Comment -

Branch's point is a good one, I just don't know how he arrived at it with the limited info you posted.
If this is a 'let's try this out and see how it works' relationship, then obviously your Interests matter.
Points to consider are volume of these players, and is it all similar volume. If you have one $500 a game guy and the rest are $50's, that will create a lopsided sheet, not as valuable as same volume but all $100 players.
Unless the $500 guy is a huge square.Comment -

#1125% with Red Figure is the best way to go. If you can get more than 25% great, but with "Red Figure Make Up" you do just fine.Comment -

#14I stand by everything I said.
You're local is super lucky and any % he gets is a gift. Doesn't matter if he gives you 80% on a freeroll, you are still giving him 20% for free. As long as the players are square they will lose in the long run. He is just paying a PPH fee and you can do the same exact thing, give the same service and take 100% instead of 15%, 40%, 80%, etc.
If your customers only play normal like $300 a game or less then there is no reason not to book this yourself. If they bet more than $300 a game then you may require a different setup, but you need to give us that information. Also, good to find out if your local even has more money then you do. A lot of those "locals" ain't got a buck.
The guys disagreeing with me are relics living in an old time when books used to need a connection to hook up with an online book which of course you would pay a %. Now a days anyone can connect any PPH and hook up direct and pay a super small fee.Comment -

For brendon to make this comment, I'm sure he is getting some information on steam and just wants to fire a bunch of steam which anyone who has taken action for more than 5 minutes would know to cut this off immediatly.
What is steam? Really simple, if the customer bets and they have a better line then the closing line the majority of the time then they are a steam customer. CRIS, Pinnacle, and stupid PPH books take this action.
As you notice from my previous statements I specifically said they need to be square customers which are 99.5% of customers. Normal guys with normal jobs, betting their own plays.Comment -

#19a lot of these locals settle weekly. that means if this week the players won, the numbers are erased at week end. then if next week the players lose, the bookie still pay the 15% to the OP as an agent. this is not an affiliate program where they settle quartertly or monthly and they pay you on a step program. I live in an asian community....everyone gambles here. i know more bookies than offshore sportbooks. the going rate is 10-25% net loss or 1.5% volume bet.Comment -

#21If this was 15% without a red figure that does change things of course. Especially if you have a guy or two betting $500 or more. Then maybe there is some value on keeping a local assuming your guys hit a crazy parlay and the local pays IMMEDIATELY with not making anyone feel bad or stupid or out of place. Lot of locals cry when they have to pay out more than 5k.Comment -
