Delayed market updates BetFair. Anyone else?
Yesterday I was watching Manchester United vs QPR when a goal was scored, their market did not go into suspended mode, so I clicked on the refresh button. There was still no change. It seemed as if everything was frozen for about a minute before the suspended announcement came up. It is as if I am receiving delayed prices (on which you can obviously not bet) from their exchange. Anyone else ever seen something similar?

Were you logged in or just on their site ?

I noticed it the other day that when I wasnt logged in it was often a couple mins behind with the prices and also money matched - when I logged in on another computer to compare it the logged in one was much more up to date, even if I clicked Refresh a few times on both. Have since seen it a few times since, but to be honest I havent spent much time logged in there recently, so cant say I have noticed whether the delay is still there when logged in or not.

      No, just on their site.

I am very much willing to believe your story.
Looks like a typical Pommie trick to me.
These guys truly lose any form of integrity possible.
Seems then that I need to open some "fake" accounts just to see their accurate prices.

Just had another look, and same thing again - logged in on laptop and showing one set of odds and money matched as follows:

        Total Matched: £32,753
        HOU 2.16
        POR 1.81

On non-logged in one on desktop at same time (after pressing refresh on both at same time) was:

        Total Matched: £32,219
        HOU 1.98
        POR 2.00

Not a lot of bets being struck, but definate delay and at one point while refreshin was more like 30k + 32k difference in total matched.

Thought it might have been an issue with the new BETA page that they are offering, but I made sure for this test that both were on BETA

If it's the same as racing, the show is not delayed but you can only refresh it every 30secs.

It has been like this for a long time now.

I assume the logic is, if you are not logged in, you are not intending to bet at that time. Therefore, why should you be able to waste our valuable bandwidth (especially on live events) by constant refreshing.

And it also keeps the behavior of non members in check.

Hmmm are you serious or trolling? With all due respect your comments are dumb and from somebody who is clueless about exchanges.

Looks like a typical crimmy response to me (don't insult poms until you can beat us at cricket!!). A bit of advice, which is meant in the right way - get out the dark ages if you want to use bf or always be behind the curve and a loser on an exchange.

              Was this a live event?
Just wondering if the delay is always or only live.

Amazingly little that I can find on the internet about it. Just this thread on BetFair:

It's stated in the top frame when you're not logged in.

                    "Login for the latest prices"

If you click on the question mark it states:

"Only customers logged into a funded account will be able to view the latest prices.
To find out more please go to our help section."

                    The help section states:

                    h) Why can I only view the latest prices logged in with a funded account?

Only customers logged into an active funded account will be able to view the latest Betfair prices. We do this to discourage extreme usage of Betfair website data by software programs that don't use Betfair to bet. Your account becomes an 'active funded account' the first time you make a deposit.

For many reasons I no longer bet with this outfit, but I got to admit that I am often curious to see what their prices are, so I decided to transder a 1000 quid to my old account. Pffff. These Pommies! They always manage to find ways to get you.

A bit harsh there mate. It costs them to provide the facility. They owe nothing to freeloaders. Pinnacle does likewise.
