#4We get a few dozen ID disputes from certain countries per yr. Most books now ask suspected abusers to take a photo holding the passport with their face in view. Good to see someone get prosecuted.Comment

#5Crazy that some even still try this. It's like people think sportsbooks, and SBR, are in the Stone Ages. As I say to people several times a week "if my toddler can figure your scam out, you should probably pursue another angle"Originally posted by SBR LouWe get a few dozen ID disputes from certain countries per yr. #8Lou you didn't read the article ! Because if you did you would know that holding newspaper to the face wouldn't help the book to catch the guy. You are so quick to back abusive policies that you forget or should i say you are the one who cry the most why US doesn't allow online gambling .Originally posted by SBR LouWe get a few dozen ID disputes from certain countries per yr. My guess US government have very strong case to shut down every book . Because Mohammed transferred $20.000 to Abdul using online sportsbook (SBR rated A+ ). What's the difference between you and them on enforcing policies . Ahh yeah you get paid by the books .Comment

#9Actually the article suggested the bogus passports were on his computer ("SCANS"), not stockpiled in a filing cabinet.... but either way, forcing a user to take a photo of the person in the passport holding the ID cuts down on at least a good percentage of the run of mill scammers.Originally posted by vitalyoLou you didn't read the article ! Exactly. Some numbers arent correct, or he didnt used them all. With that amount of IDs, even real stupid ones would earn more than 2mil ( ≈340e per ID) doing matched betting. And he would need 16 years if he used one ID per day.Comment

#16Not 5900 identities... 5900 documents scanned on his computer. I know here we have to send in a drivers licence/passport, a utility bill and a copy of a bank statement. So that's 3 docs for one name. But yeah, seems the guy was either not the brightest scammer or simply got caught before he could cycle through them all. Mind you the fact that he sent in two IDs with different names but the same pic within 12 mins of each other leads me to believe it was the former, not the latter.Originally posted by BAUSHow was he able to make only 80k£ with 5900 identities?

#17Lou the scam happened in UK and it doesn't justify someone in Poland to hold the news paper to his face .Originally posted by SBR LouWe get a few dozen ID disputes from certain countries per yr.

CC companies loose billions in CC fraud but they don't ask merchants to require a buyer to hold an ID with news paper to his face . I would think profit out gains the lossOriginally posted by SBR LouActually the article suggested the bogus passports were on his computer ("SCANS"), not stockpiled in a filing cabinet.... but either way, forcing a user to take a photo of the person in the passport holding the ID cuts down on at least a good percentage of the run of mill scammers.
If the book can't verify an ID from certain country they shouldn't offer them to gamble . Or have this policy in T@C with details ( not to be naked nor hold a porn magazine to your face) . Shit like that .
As you said above you get few dozen of this disputes a year . So it's not an isolated cases it becomes a common practice there for should be in T@C. I am not a lawyer but i surprised no took them to court (yet).
I think the problem is (with the most of the books) as soon as you make a deposit books are forgetting
that the money is yours . They can inforce or change any policy they want because they holding your money .
 My 2 centsComment
