I'm confused. How can the US government go after people who don't even live in the United States? Isn't that the whole point of being "off shore"? Also, what prevents them from going after other sites such as 5d, Heri**** and others? Should USA customers of the sites that have been "confiscated" be worried because they played there? If they go after the sites, why not go after the players too? Just wondering.
How can the US Feds go after out of country companies and people?

Generally speaking the players aren't breaking any law by playing with offshore books.Comment -

#4How can they? America is the most powerful nation on Earth. They can basically do whatever they want to do. Anyone who thinks there are limits to their power is insane. There are only limits on how far they are willing to pursue something. If the feds are highly motivated they can do some dangerous stuff (look at www.megaupload.com story)
Now, weather that means its the right thing to do is a totally different situation. I happen to believe might doesn't always equal right.Comment -

#8There are two ways to pursue gambling companies outside the U.S.
1. If they have assets in the U.S. (including a .com domain), the DOJ can seize it with a rubber-stamped hearing. This is why all the sportsbooks are creating domains with .eu, .ag and .can.
2. If an owner of a targeted company flies into or through they U.S., they can mug him. The DOJ did this to Neteller and Betonsports.
If your domain is not .com, none of your assets are in the U.S., and none of your key employees fly to the U.S., all they can do is attack your processing. Beted had much of their processing through a DOJ shell company, which contributed to their fall.Comment -

#18Listen, I'm a HUGE Ron Paul supporter but trust me people: America is powerful beyond belief. Its not irrelevant to any corner on the planet, and I challenge someone to name one country that believes America is "irrelevant". The entire world is run by the US and US companies. The reason for this is that USA controls the worlds money supply which is the reserve currency of the world. Our military counts of course but controlling the money is so much more. Every major bank on Earth uses US Dollars. How can you compete with that?
There are numerous countries like El Salvador, Panama, Zimbabwe and many other small nations that don't even print their own money & rely on the dollar. All other nations have reserves and those reserves are in US dollars. The dollar is accepted EVERYWHERE and the guys bashing the USA who hate the USA would happily take as many US Dollars that anyone was willing to give.
As for the Iraq comment, we took out Iraq in a week. The rest has just been politics and the defense industry bleeding as much as possible over as long as possible until the American people just refused to go along with it anymore. Of course they will make their money in Afghanistan until it comes time for Iran or Syria.
Traveling outside the USA has only enforced this belief anymore of really how powerful the USA is. Its scary to have one nation with that much power, but its the real world we live in.Comment -

#19The reality is the United States been doing what ever the hell they want... and have been doing it for a long time. They use military force or the threat of military action... it is effective. But in reality they abuse economic force more than anything else... IMf, World Bank, loans, investments or lack of... tariffs and taxes as well as dumping certain commodities on the world market tha are heavily subsidized by the Feds to the principle US producers and supplers. Farmers are good examples as well as the raw manufacturing materials needed in places like e.g. China, India... also a little knolwn fact is that the United States has invaded numerous central and south American countries in supportoff US corporations... I am talking well over a hundred instances in the last 150 years... I am surprised Panama actually got their canal...shocker. I guess it needed so much infrastructer, cash infusion to get it up to todays necessary required traffic operational capabilities that it just was not worth it anymore... I beleive they have been sued about 20 times in the World Court and did not win once... but it is still business as usual.Comment -

#25OMG what the hell are some of u guys saying. Each case that has happened so far with the busts of either poker sites or books was because of someone snitching or getting set up. U guys are just saying they will do anything at any time, which is not right they make an investigation and go from there. Not saying what they are doing is right because i hate them for what they are doing.Comment -

Heck, even Swiss banks changed 100 year policies of absolute secrecy when the DOJ wanted records in the UBS tax cases. Many Americans who thought they had no worries with disclosures with Swiss bank accounts suddenly had to explain every deposit and withdrawl to IRS authorities.
What a lot of people don't realize is that OPEC is bound by a deal with the US to trade ONLY in US Federal Reserve Notes. If OPEC ever breaks that and starts dealing with another currency or in gold and silver, the #$*% will hit the fan. Another thing people don't realize is that Federal Reserve Notes are the international currency because it was always meant to be since it's inception in 1913, because the Federal Reserve is owned by globalists foreign banking cartels that have been robbing every country since the days of colonies.Comment -

#31Un freaking believable every one of you US bashing ignorant conspiracy hypocritical liberal pieces of walking crap.
Michael Savage is right, liberalism is a disease.
America is the greatest country this planet has ever hosted. So easy to complain from the comfort of your homes as you enjoy the amazing benefits the US makes possible including your disposable income of US dollars that you wager.
Oh poor jerkoffs whine the US is 'Controling everyone and everything' because you can't bet anywhere your ungrateful ass happens to be at the moment.
American exceptionalism never left. It has just been 'whitewashed' over by liberal secularist self haters, and if there is a G-d in heaven it will return after November, because American Exceptionalism is real.
I wonder how much the moron who wrote 'and we wonder why people fly planes into our buildings' actually depends directly or indirectly on America for a list of freedoms and benifits that are utterly impossible to exist just about anywhere else.
So much whining from those who stand on a soapbox and bemoan the place people fight every day, and who's dream it is, to become a part of.
Take a moment to look down. That soapbox your standing on was made here.Last edited by princecharles; 03-24-12, 03:21 AM.Comment -

By the way, my soapbox says Made in China on it. Probably because the factory got a sweet deal that one of your beloved politicians brokered for them through Goldman-Sachs.
The whole point of a free country, is that the citizens can air their grievances so they can stay free.
Fact is son, you sound like someone who would have been a proud Tory in 1770.
By the way, when you say "liberalism" are you referring to the classic definition of the word which is libertarian in nature, or the more recent socialistic mantra of the term?
The funniest part is, the US government has been controlled by foreign interests since 1913, and you're such a mindless sheep, that you think this same government is what makes this a great country?
What makes a country great, is the freedom of it's citizens. Only through freedom can any exceptionalism exist.Comment
