Can it safely be said that Pinnacle Sports is the greatest sportsbook of all time?
And will it remain that way due to the high number of sharp bettors that use them?

they are arguably the best for US sports but others are better for other sports, e.g. SBO for soccer
and overall the exchanges offer better value most of the time

Hareeba, what would you recommend for exchanges when it comes to us sports? Betfair is absolute shit so please don't mention them.

Betfair generally isn't the place for betting on US sports I'd agree. However that's not to say that at times you can't get best odds there .. as I did for an NHL bet yesterday and also an NBA bet today. Because most punters have your view they don't bother looking there and miss out when they lag in following a line move. However the pre-game liquidity isn't exciting I'll grant you.
I don't play live games so don't really know but I expect that Betfair would likely be very competitive for live betting on US sports with decent liquidity.
But most of my US sports betting is done at Matchbook where I almost always can extract a better price than at Pinnacle.

Sorry if this is slightly off topic but I'm wondering if anyone knows how Pinnacle feel about automated scripts running on their site to grab prices AND place bets automatically.
I know they claim to be pro gambler friendly etc, but has anyone any experience with this? I've been working on an automated arbitrage system for some time, but every bookmaker I've coded into it restricts pretty sharpish and one has suspeneded the accounts completely.
Pinnacle is a bookmaker that excites due to their 'winners welcom'e attitude and I'll probably code that site next but my gut tells me they'll not be so accommodating to automated activity? Any experience/thougts?
Cheers

Email them and ask if they allow access to their API via automated betting script, like betfair does.

Thanks - do they have an API? I was going to do the 'donkey work' myself.
Scratch that, just read about their API and have emailed them. Many thanks for the suggestion - you've probs saved me a whole load of time

They don't like it, scraping frequently will get your account closed.
They offer an XML feed which has been improved recently but is still quite slow.
The API is very good.

Thanks FourLengthsClear.
I've emailed them and they're happy for me to get prices using their API (obviously), I'm waiting to hear back re: placing bets. Placing bets will be relatively low in terms of bandwidth so hopefully they won't be too bothererd.

Most likely. They seem to have fixed the old issues with the stability of the site, so now I have absolutely nothing to complain about.

Well, Pinnacle is the greatest book of our time, that's for sure. But the greatest books for sure were in Vegas circa 1985. Here's one example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vd3YkWcaRIo
They eventually went bankrupt due to virtually unlimited limits and sharps hammering them strong, but if the comparison is limits/sharp players, a hybrid of Pinnacle and this kind of book would be The ultimate sportsbook.
