Another Good Betting Recap Call with Doc, NFL 12 NCAAF 13: Public Wins Again

The public won again, and the books lost again, this past weekend in football, reversing a brief trend that saw the books finally winning.

In his weekly call with SBRtv this week, Doc, the Head Linesman at Legends Sportsbook, discusses the past weekend's betting action, and gives some interesting thoughts on how the year has gone overall.

No, not every week. Doc said the public has won about 9 out of 13 weeks this season, and as he said in the call, the last 3 weeks have been good for the books, he said the public has generally lost.

He also mentioned that it's unusual, and that he thinks the books will have to adapt a bit in the future, if you listened to the call.

And, he also talked about how books that do take high-limit sharp action and have "line sweepers" as he calls them, didn't get hit as hard, and he named books like that in the call.

When he has a good week or a good or great event outcome, Doc is always upfront about it as well.

Like he said in the call, some agents had big weeks, and some types of books got hit less hard, but overall when he says it was a big winning week for the public, it's not a lie, and he explained exactly why in the call.

Perhaps not a lie, but definitely a hyperbolic exaggeration. I love this weekly segment and Doc is an upfront guy, however, he is also a veteran oddsmaker that knows how to even up the action by manipulating key numbers. Sorry, but a "bloodbath" to the books simply means that they are making less profit than normal. However, they are still making profit.

I'm not planning the pity party for the books just yet...

He claims to already do so but it's never the best number on the monitor, giving line shoppers (who are getting torched with the books in CFB) little reason to play there.
