bet365 - applying for Australian sportsbetting licence

I'm not a casino, bingo, etc... player but my worry is that the main reason I play there - for the ability to live bet online on 5000 options instead of having to call in bets to Aussie books on 5 options - will now be gone if they get this licence.

Thoughts?

I'm sure you're correct.

They won't be able to continue to disregard Australian laws by offering online in-play betting to Australians if they are licensed here.

And I suppose those of us who are limited to $3.65 or less bets won't be able to do any better by opening an account with the Aussie 365 either.

Do you have any idea of how long this process usually takes? They limited me right off the bat on one set of lines but after that I stopped using them for pre match bets and basically just live bet there for smaller amounts. I'm thinking though if this is going to happen fairly soon I may as well just go for it and get what I can out of them now. If they limit me on everything, so be it - I'll just keep a few bucks in there to access the live streams.

I just wonder if they're already partially through the process and have been told now's the time to disable access to Aussies.

They basically look to see if you beat the closing line, do that on more than a few bets and you will be gone.

Am certain the license will mean no more live bets, and it's possible that could be w/b 22 August, though you'd perhaps have thought they would have mentioned it alongside the other products if so...

My understanding is that the move wouldn't be until November/December.

All they would need to do is send an email to Aussie customers saying no more live betting. I don't know how much notice we really need?

I posted this in my thread, but its obviously a business decision by Bet365 and they must have done their due diligence. Aussie betting is a soft market and bet365 have the money to flood the market with advertising, considering the changes in the laws in Aus a few years ago too. They will make more money off the new donkeys that they will get from over here compared to what they were making off us live bettors. Bwin it is with their nice -125 lines

Our clueless politicians years ago decided that in-play online betting was too big a danger of increasing "problem gambling".

The fools just don't understand the difference between gaming and wagering. Gaming is where the "problem gamblers" hang out. Those stupid poker machines and those massive takeouts on lotteries in particular are the cause of 90% of the problem.
