H.R.2366 - Internet Gambling Prohibition, Poker Consumer Protection,..
..and Strengthening UIGEA Act of 2011

Just thought I'd put that bill's name out there for those of you who go "poker is gonna be regulated soon so sports betting is looking good." They are compromising with the dumbass bible-thumpers so that they can get their poker.

Great info. Unfortunately, this government will just continue to play hardball with the masses. It makes perfect sense to legalize and regulate gaming as a whole, but with the Indian gaming, Corporate gaming and individual states legalizing gambling (or forms of it) at a fairly decent pace, I just don't see many bills passing outside of regulating poker. It's a fukkin shame.

I think we Americans have to realize that online sports betting will NEVER be legalized except for in Vegas.. regardless if online poker is "legalized" or not the NFL will never allow legalized sports betting to be passed and YES the NFL does have that much power

I think the NCAA would be the fore runner in opposition of legalized sports betting and understandably so, so ya, the outlook is bleek.

Maybe they are changing their tune on this issue considering that the government right now is broke they say. I would include this in the debt ceiling bill if I was them.

NONE of your posts adressed the fact that "gambling prohibition" and "uigea strengthening" are in the name of the bill. You shouldn't be upset that we aren't trying to legalize and regulate. You should be upset that it's about to be even more explicitely illegal and difficult.

They would be ridiculously sad if the only place to legally bet sports is LV!!

Doesn't change the legality of placing a bet online from the US. Deposits/withdrawals would possibly get tougher.
