Does every sportsbook take usa players? Its just poker then ban, right or wrong?

Not every sportsbook takes american players. As a rule of thumb you can almost always play with sportbooks based out of Costa Rica and other south and middle american countries. You will be able to tell just by looking at the site. If it has USA on the registration page then in most cases you will be ok. If in doubt, check the terms and conditions as they will have a specific rule that bans US players.
You can not play with bookies based out of Malta, Gibraltar, the UK, Australia, Italy, France... really most european countries. There may be exceptions though. In most cases you can tell which country the bookie is based out of by looking at the bottom of the page for small print or a logo.
