"A" books would never do this.
Yeah I was actually on the same course after reading here that they cancelled the points program I was forced to cash out my points for the highly less valuable options.

It was reported here that they cancelled the loyalty program and 2 weeks went by where I earned zero points for my action before they finally put in very small fine print at the bottom of the home page that they were giving 2 weeks notice that points had to be spent by superbowl sunday, resulting in many like yourself having their points stolen. Doesn't surprise me considering these guys history with BetOnSports and the flat out theft of players funds.

Very shady if you ask me many guys would place wagers at BOL over another shop for 4 weeks under the impression that they were earning loyalty points when they were earning nothing.

Smart thing would have been to send out a CLEAR email stating that the program would be ending, but offering everyone 2X points until that time - they could have also used the opportunity to introduce their new program, by saying that the loyatly points program would be "replaced" with an even better "lifetime bonus" incentive plan. Instead they choose to not let anyone know (or hide it in fine print) until its too late and piss off the very customers that they most want to keep (the long term "loyal" ones). They really need to learn a few things about marketing.

I agree that is dirty pool. They should at least let you cash in the points you have. If they want to stop awarding points, no problem.
