Ach vs Bankwire what's the difference

I notice that more books are offering bankwire over Ach transfer nowadays. So what is the difference between the two?

The last ACH I did the fee was a fix amount for $30 dollars and it arrived less than 5 days, so it wasn't that bad. Bankwire on the other hand I have never done before. So are bankwire any good for transaction under 3k without getting killed by fees and do the process takes long?

I think I have paid $50 for an international wire. Sometimes the book will reimburse you for the fee. The form you have to fill out can be complicated. It can take a week for the money to go through.
