Apologies for bumping my year old thread comrades, but I'm just curious.....Are any of our Canadian Forum members still actively using Scotiabank with regards to Moneybookers? I'm deeply entrenched with TD Bank now so it's no longer an issue, but I've always wondered if Scotia really was on a Moneybookers Blitz last April that others became caught in, or if my situation was an isolated incident...

Anyway, I'd be quite interested if anybody were to post an update to this.....

Bank of Nova Scotia has been stupid about gambling for a few years now, so nothing new there.

      Just change banks.

Yeah, I did Peep, quite some time ago. But I was just wondering if they had screwed anybody else over since my original post.

Sorry, I didn't notice the original date.

Thought the thread looked familiar lol.

Don't know how I missed this thread first time around.

Anyway, to repeat what I have ranted about elsewhere, I have (second-hand) experiences with how Scotiabank is to be competely avoided for on-line gaming stuff. It is not just Moneybookers issues; they treat cheques from third party processors as though they are funds going straight to al-qaeda.

TD has treated me like a king for decades. Well, a king who pays service charges on anything and everything.

I think you'll have to send a wire transfer from your bank account to Moneybookers. Its a pain in the ass since you'll have to go to the bank branch and give them all the info. (Moneybookers bank name and bank address etc.)

In the end it should be worth it since Pinny is awesome and fingers crossed that you'll only have to fund your Moneybookers account once. BOL.

but doesn't bank Wiretransfer eat up like 5-10% of the deposited amount? Kinda scary for me...

It eats up 30$ or so, fixed amount. It also allows you to verify your moneybookers account (1 of the steps) which will be extremely useful in your future dealings with sportsbooks.

It's pretty much a crapshoot when it comes to the Canadian banks. Their policies towards gambling are vague, groundless and unenforceable. But if you get "caught" violating these policies there is little you can do about it. I've had my TD CDN CHQ, US CHQ,TD CDN VC and TD US VC closed because of transactions with poker sites. Most transactions were through processors as well. Luckily the banks are a homogeneous group so it doesn't matter if you do get banned at one.

Completely agree Mr. Market. Even individual banks are inconsistent with their policies. While I eventually closed up my Scotiabank account due to their refusal to process MoneyBookers withdrawals, I know several people who continue to make MB transactions there without any problems whatsoever. All the luck of the draw really, as I basically ran into a bank worker who was shooting for "Employee of the Month!" and had decided it was up to her to rid the world of gambling scum everywhere.....

if you go to betfair website , they give you a list of all of the card that work , the list also includes credit unions, if they work at betfair, they will probably work at most places , like you guys have mentioned the policy are stupid, when people aren't even breaking any laws yet the banks just make up their own laws

Umm so are you saying what doesn't work for MB could work at instad? Because my original option was to use MB to make a deposit but given the problems and troubles that ive recently encountered i feel like it is no longer an option for deposits as well as the trouble i had finding a "suitable credit card" If use instead, can you please give some deposit options? Thanks

3 year old bump that today I tried to make a small withdrawal with Scotiabank and the book told me they do not withdraw to them because of the gambling concerns. I thought maybe this was a new rule, but low and behold, look it up on SBR and this was a 5 year old issue...

Scotiabank lowered my daily ATM withdrawal limit after I was the victim of DC fraud. It happened at a machine at their bank (drive-thru). Many were victimized that day, they have it on camera and know I was totally innocent but they punish the victim. Fukkers.

RBC closed several accounts for Skrill/Moneybookers wire withdrawals earlier this year.

Read about it in a thread at 2+2 called: "Letter from RBC (Canadian bank) re: online poker"
