    Hello everyone !

I had a wird situation on BetOnline chat. I just want to check my bonus rollover and chat operator asked my about my password. So I dont know what to think about it. They can check my password? This is first time when I have such situation. It is normal?

5dimes,IAS etc asks for password too ,i don't like this either and as IAS staff told me the only way to change password in IAS is per live chat- typing them your old password and afterwards typing them new password

It is normal. They should use security questions/answers instead but what can you do.....

To ask for PW on live chat for security resons is about as crazy as it gets since the cure is worse than the disease.

The fact that the routine is used by many sites doesn´t change that fact.

If they dont ask for the password, I could just log in into betonline chat. Give them a random account number and ask for info.

No, they could ask other questions to easily verify if account is real, like email, last two digits of balance, etc. The reason they choose to ask password because it is the easiest way to verify when they can see your password in clear text on screen. So when they ask for password, not giving them does not protect you at all.

It´s always wrong to use PW as verification on live chat. And when the case is about a person wanting to check rollover status it´s beyond wrong. My guess is that potential criminals would ask for something a bit more useful...

If you don't like it, play elsewhere. I wonder if anyone has ever had a problem with their BOL account being hacked, would be so easy for CS to scam.

i'd rather have to answer a security question than friggen give your password out; bs if you ask me...What R ya gonna do........keep giving it out if you want to play.

I don't care if they were offering a free kruggerand which each account opening, I would never consider using a book which kept one's password in plaintext for any CS person to see.

It is a shock to European players because they are not used to be asked password on chat. I am sure books licensed in Europe have some kind of rule against doing that.

yep, to the point I just opened a thread about it - but how can you consider your funds/account secure at all at these places ?!?

I mean if I want to or need to phone in a bet to a book over here, besides the usual acct# and password queries I end up having to confirm DOB and something else like mother's maiden name, first pet's name, where I went to gradeschool or some other random security question I had to fill in when I opened the account.

Then just call them. Geez. There are many different ways to see if you met your rollover, and if you are worried about a live chat hack, then call them.

but mtneer1212 - thats not the point or issue. if CS can see your password at anytime in plaintext, then a disgruntled CS bod could walk out on a Friday night with a handful of passwords and wreak havoc, or just keep a list of known high-roller accounts for the day they get fired.

With logins and passwords, they could do dodgy bets should they so desire to zero out a given dickhead customer who had hassled them, or worse could do ewallet or ** withdrawl and *boom* no more balance.

Broadcasting one's password via chat is one of the least secure methods there is. Might as well hang a note on your front door with your password on it. What I love is how the customer service rep always says "it's really secure and we take good care of our security" as if saying that the connection is secure and encrypted actually means that it's secure and encrypted. Of course, most people in the gaming industry have the IQ of a bag of hammers. Expectations for any interaction you ever have with any of them should be exceedingly low.

funny thing is, i do not really think they check. Many times i give them the wrong password on chat or even when i'm calling for a cashout and all is well.
