    SIA moving lines after confirm
Last night I placed a bet. The line was 204.5 on the game which I bet over. The confirm screen listed 204.5 on the over and asked me to confirm. I hit confirm and the confirm screen listed I bet 440 on Over 205.5. In the end it didn't matter but has anyone else had this?

I know Baus has played there and didn't list any issues and even took a payout. Another friend has been shown the door from there but I know he got paid out. This had happened once before so I am careful to check the screen prior to hitting confirm but I guess it doesn't matter, if they want to move the line on you they will.

I remember poster Halifax had the same thing happen to him at Wagerweb I believe and they said they had a glitch where if you hit submit exactly when the line moved it gave you the new line. Maybe use the screen cap toolbar to snap before and after shots?

I am starting to do before and after shots. I have noticed it will change the line and give you no warning, but that's on the confirm screen. That happened to me 2 weeks ago, so I'm very conscious of looking at the confirm screen prior to hitting place the wager. If it happens again I will gladly give you before and after shots, especially if it costs me a win. Last night's wager didn't matter but I know if they do that to me it eventually will.

        Now that's just bad programming.

This has happened to me hundreds of times. The vast majority of the time the line has changed and the new line (205.5 in your case) is showing on the confirm screen and I miss it in my desire to get my bet in quickly. I have felt, however, that many times the line has actually moved between my confirming the bet (typing in the amount and hitting/clicking enter) and it telling me I have action on a different line, but I can't prove it with screenshots. It is possible that I have misread the confirmation screen each time, as I make a very large number of bets, often quickly.

            Here's a slightly different question -

Do you think if the line has change in the PLAYER'S favor, the software (at any book not just SIA) will tell you, or will they just give you the worse line?

For instance you take u204.5 and it moves to u205.5 after you submit. I would want a chance at the new line, so their software should bounce you if it changes in EITHER direction. Does anyone know what happens?

Books should highlight the message that there is a new line in red. When firing bets in it can be easy to overlook a digit. I think what 20four is talking about is cases where he is given a different line only after the bet is booked.

You are correct Bill, I was given a different number after the bet was booked not on the confirm screen. Not all books give you a warning the number has changed. I think that's one issue that every book should address is a warning the number has changed. Even the greek I get no warning that it's changed but they often will change it on the confirm screen and it's up to you to notice the new line before confirming.

Yes, this is also what I am talking about. The line displays 203, I bet 203, confirm screen says 203, I confirm 203, 204 shows up in my bet history. This has, in my opinion, happened to me many times at SIA.

However, I have to account for the possibility that it was my mistake each time. Since I don't screenshot the confirmation screen and have no plans to start, and since post-confirmation line-changing is basically an allegation of straightforward fraud, I am reluctant to definitively claim it happened to me without proof. OP apparently doesn't have these qualms.

                    Ortho,
Hundreds of bettors are using this screenshot toolbar. You can click the button and forget about the screenshot unless the instance arises where you do think you got a different line.

The toolbar is useful for problems like this.

A-rated books don't have this issue (At Cris, Oly and Pinny, a line change is highlighted in red, and won't give you a confirmed bet at a price you didn't see).

What I noticed in the past is that if you place a bet at -2. If the line has changed on the confirm screen it will show the new line, say -3. If you then hit confirm, you get -3.

If the line changes again when you hit confirm the bet won't be accepted. I haven't seen where it screwed people by changing after the confirmation.

Also, the change can occur in your favor.

This is what can happen. You click to bet Chi -2. If the line changes to -3 it will show -3 as in my example. If you confirm at -3 that's what you get. It happens all the time.

I'm not sure if they still boot people. My limits are cut to $110 sides and $40 totals. It's even lower in some sports and futures.

Raiders, in my case it showed 204 after clicking confirm it showed the bet at 205. As it was the change didn't mean a thing. I know a few times it has changed and I didn't catch it (or I assumed I didn't catch it) to the point I ALWAYS look at it before hitting confirm. I didn't have an issue until the other day where I know it changed after confirming the bet. I have since been shooting before and after and it hasn't happened in the last 2 days. I'm not saying it won't happen again, but this time I will be ready.

I have found SIA customer service to be very good so I believe if it happens I will get it fixed or at least voided. 2 weeks ago I bet New orleans money line and for some reason clicked utah on the spread (they were giving points) and I phoned up and they voided the utah spread bet and gave me New orleans with the points. While they said they have a policy of not voiding bets, they agreed this was an obvious error. At the end of the day utah won huge and I would have been better off not getting it changed.

I also realize playing at the lower rated books carries so risk, to date I've alway managed to mitigate that risk. I appreciate Bill, Justin and others who have answered in this thread. If I catch it again I will update you.

                            Thanks guys

Another problem is that the over isn't always listed on the left. Once in a while it's reversed with the under on the left and over on the right.

I've never seen that at SIA but I know at Party bets the under is on the left and the over is on the right. I have "almost" gotten caught on that one there.

I have been tricked. It's a horrible feeling looking at the score and getting happy thinking that you won but then seeing your balance doesn't match what you think it should be.
