I don't know why I never thought to search for this before, but I have to say, this is nice. 
I was looking at the BookMaker sports pager and thought, they should offer this via text for mobile phone. Then I thought, you know, ESPN should do this and do it for free since it is ESPN. So I did a search and what do you know, they do.
It is ESPN's free text alert service, here is their link to their FAQ section.
Anyway, I just signed up. It was simple to do and there are so many options. For example, I selected an alert for my MLB pick today and to send me a text with the score after the 3rd, 6th, and final innings.
Anyway, thought I would share that. I apologize if there is already another thread about this, but I didn't see one, so...
