    Line Movement
If you were walking down the street and saw a Hot dog stand with a big sign that read "Hot dogs $0.99", you think wow, really $0.99 cents I could go for a hotdog, I want ketchup, mustard oh I hope they got onions. Your mind is now consumed with hunger and you can't wait to be served. The hot dog isn't ready yet so you have to wait and watch the guy make it. FINALLY! it's done, the hot dog is passed to you than BAMN! Buddy wants $1.10 for it. How pissed would you be?

I deal with this over half the time I go to put money down at betphoenix. I look at the price, get excited put my money down then I see the horrid circle spinning letting me know the window numbers at BET PHOENIX aren't real, they just get you to stop and look so you want Boston but you can't get it at the number that was in the window. GOUGE 2 points here SMACK 4 points here then BOOM lower limits.

Anyways the point of my post is this. I will NEVER take a number that gets gouged after I put the money in, I just can't do it. Do you think that the line manager knows that every time you place a bet and the odds change, you walk away from it and this is what gets your limits cut? Last night I went to bet two games, the first one I got, the second moved 3 points and I passed, I lost the one bet I made and now my limit are cut in half........again.

hmm... I have walked away from the line moves at Bet Phoenix a few times, but it rarely happens. Perhaps, it has more to do with when you place your bets. I always place my bets in the morning. If the lines are moving quite often for you, then you are probably betting at a volatile time. If you are placing the bets and the line moves on you and you walk away and you do this over and over. Then I would suspect you were chasing steam and as we all know, that will get your limits cuts.

I am just guessing here and going by what you wrote. If you are not a steam player, then perhaps you could contact the line's manager and ask if they would re-instate your limits if you would only place bets at a certain time each day, so there is no confusion. Damn, umm, that really seems like a pain.

I would be happy if I could max bet at a certain time of the day , rather then never.

        steam / arbing

this is why most books cut limits, not because you are a winner

Books could care less if you arb, they would have no way of knowing, if you beat them to line moves by chasing steam this will get you limited or booted and also regardless of what hareeba says being a long term winner and consistently beating the closing line will get you booted at a lot of places.

you're right they don't know you are arbing but the very nature of arb betting is chasing steam - million or more arbers out there all wanting to pile on the same line at the same time

and yes, they will cut you for winning in the long term but again to be a winner you need to regularly get the best odds out there and doing that gets you cut more often than being a winner - I've been cut at books where I've been losing and they never let me become a long term winner
