    Sports betting in New Zealand
I'll be down there from August to March. What is the gambling situation like in NZL? Can I use my pinnacle account? They seem to have one official betting site (https://www.tab.co.nz/sport/index.html) but I'm afraid I can't register since I will not have a permanent adress in NZ. Are there other ways to bet offline? Like places where I can bet cash?

    Thanks in advance

You can use pinnacle. NZ has no gaming restrictions that I am aware of. I am not sure if they have B&M joints in NZ.

One of the true lands of the free

Not sure how you would go opening a Pinnacle account as a foreigner there but locals can bet with them and Betfair

There are TAB shops all over the place where you can walk in with cash and bet anonymously but their margins might be a bit on the heavy side

          Where will you be located?

Here is the store directory for the NZ TAB.

You will also find self service machines in a lot of the pubs.

New Zealand is a great place to wager on sports. But How can I become a resident or citizen of NZ in order to get a legal identity?

it is interesting in many parts of the world sports betting is considered the least offensive type of gambling , i read in cyprus online casinos are banned but you can bet on sports freely, i think the u.k still doesn't have a casino , yet shops and online are so common even the Queen likes to throw down on the ponies, i wish our canadian government would stop all this grey zone nonsense and just make it clearly legal

Great link, thanks! That's what I was looking for

I have a working holiday v.isa and will travel around the country, so I don't have a permanent adress. Planning to see as much as possible from this beautiful country

UK does have a few casinos, and most towns will have a gaming room with slots and limited table games.

Yeah you can go into any TAB and put money on anything pretty much, I'm from Australia it's all similar over here. Just get used to using decimal odds

The Queen likes to do a bit more than that seeing as she owns a string of racehorses.

UK has well over 100 casinos (rather more than a few), and every major town/city in the UK has at least one. My home city of Leeds has 3. There used to be a restriction where you had to "join" a casino and then wait 24 hours before you were allowed to play, but this was abolished in 2005 along with relaxation of restrictions on slot machine numbers and jackpot size.

Even a village with just a few shops will typically have a shop bookmaker, and every larger town will have several. These will always have fixed odds betting terminals with computer touch screens (it's the shops' best moneymaker) offering games such as roulette and blackjack.

                          Hi guys !
I'll be in NZ & Australia in april for a wedding, then will attend some Commonwealth Games events in Gold Coast and i don't know if i will be able to place some bets in shops there.
                          My questions :
1/ i heard about betting in pubs/hotels in Australia. Is it the same in NZ ? What is the difference between TAB shops and betting in pubs/hotels ? do you take your bets on a "computer" only ?
2/ as a foreigner, will i be able to get my winnings paid cash if i win ? or some winnings require a payment by bank transfer ?
3/ what kind of amounts can you bet ? i think i will play mostly on Commonwealth Games events, such as athletics, swimming, cycling, boxing... not sure they allow decent bets on that. Maybe some of you already bet on similar events (Olympics) ?

                          thank you !

                            1) PubTAB is just a TAB terminal in a pub. Same odds as shops.
                            2) It depends. In a TAB shop they have heaps of cash but at some pubs they may want to write you a cheque for more than a few thousand.
                            3) I'd guess Comm Games betting will be small limits. Can't recall seeing a lot of it in the past. :\

I imagine if you call the Aussie online books when here they will hook you up with an account whilst onshore. I think anyway. Can't imagine its illegal for visitors to bet here when its all legal.
