Bank of America doesn't allow online sportsbetting
My girlfriend started working at the BoA call center and I guess somebody called in needing assistance with a wire transfer from his sportsbook account to his BoA account. When he called in, the representative had to put a block on his card and issue him a new card or something like that.

I had a Sportsbook.com account and I bank with BoA, however I didn't experience any issues depositing or withdrawing money. Just thought I'd give a heads up. Maybe just don't tell BoA about your sportsbook account and they won't catch it.

indeed. the guy actually called in and said he was trying to do something with his sportsbook account. that's when he found out that they don't support that.

Checks and BW transfers are issued by the 3-d party banks that have no attachments to online gambling whatsoever. BOA has no glue where this money is coming from or what money it is. It is your money and as long as you keep in quiet and under control, you'll be fine! That's how it is supposed to be! No talking , just acting! Keep your checks under 5k and BW-s under 10k and everything will be fine !

But issue itself is legit. Matchbook wont take BW-s from BOA anymore. That is another sign that screws are getting tighter. There will come a day when it all becomes impossible . So be ready for that too and set up your offshore bank accounts!

Why it works for Sportsbook.com as far as I know is they run the transactions on the card as a department store is South Korea or something like that. The vendor code isn't gambling.

While this does seem like user error, it's worth noting that BofA has a strong policy against gambling. A friend of mine had their checking account "frozen" temporarily when they had some transactions that they deemed to be from a sportsbook. He got his money eventually but they told him to take his business elsewhere. So be careful if you're using a BofA account that is your primary account for living expenses.

If you bet online, don't use Chase or BOA. They care.

Don't tell any banks you are wiring to/from sportsbooks.

I've never had a problem with Citi or Wachovia.

I use my BOA checking account to cash my sportsbook checks. I never have any problems and they don't even put holds on them!

BofA is spawned from the devil. They kicked back a wire transfer to a sportsbook from me, and still charged me something like $75, once for sending it, and then charged me again for it coming back.

I protested at a Chase branch regarding their policies, and I guess I was a little too loud, and was kicked out of the bank by the manager.
They actually made me leave the bank.

                                  Corporate America sucks.

Isn't it less about BofA having a strong policy against online gambling... but more about some law or other deemed such activity illegal? BofA is really just trying to follow that law. Not that I mean to defend them, just saying there's a legit reason to block such transactions when they are made aware.

In other words, any US bank should do the same if they are made aware of it?

Fukk these banks. These pricks rob you blind left and right with all there ridiculous fee's and if you every get a mortgage you pay and only 10-20% goes to your principle balance. They wanted to up my interest rate on my credit card 24% and charge me an annual fee of $99 just for the privilege of carrying the card. Then to top it all off they make shitty decisions and have to steal our tax dollars to keep them from going under. I would case the joint and find out where the bank managers park there cars and flatten every tire.
