    5 Dimes disabling accounts?

    Edit by SBR: Hi yisman,

5Dimes was able to ID you based on what you shared. The intention was to remove the free betting contest reward access if you did not qualify any longer, not your regular account. But they'll keep it open for your account for now in light of the miscommunication.

    _____

I heard someone else tell me that his account was disabled for no apparent reason.

Same happened to me today. My login doesn't work.

I have a lot in pending wagers and I am not depositing until the wagers are settled (I have a good reason for this).

I e-mailed CS and got this reply:

    Greetings!

Thanks for the information provided. Your account has been temporarily disabled since you have no deposits or wagers in more than 30 days. Please proceed with a deposit to enable your account.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Regards,
    Julie

Yes. Apparently I need to deposit again to claim my funds if my wagers win.

    New policy by 5 Dimes.

    Priceless.

well I might need to make Heritage my main book again after reading Yisman's post...the only reason I'm not playing there right now is because you have to go through that verification and validation crap every time you get a new credit card even though they already have all of your information at their disposal!...

why not deposit 50 bucks and then withdraw everything? I know it's a matter of principal for you, but if it's just a technicality issue on their end, then technically you can deposit 50 and then gain access to all the funds and withdraw if you wish

You have to turn the deposit over once.

Correct... it's technicality... but Yisman has active wagers pending. He didn't do anything wrong.

5Dimes doesn't need to be making new and ridiculous rules.

5Dimes is kind of a pain to withdraw from. You can deposit money and make bets easily but each time I withdraw (only play during the NFL season so I withdraw the money at the end of each season) they want me to fax them my credit card I used for a deposit years ago, utility bill, and government issued ID all along with a hand written page with various information. Sure, I appreciate the fraud security but my information has never changed and the money is always deposited in the same place. I always get my money in the end but it's extremely annoying.

If some of pending wagers win, money will be in account. Then account open. Business as usual. Way I see it.

No, it sounds like he has to make a new wager or deposit to restart the 30 day clock. Absurd rule as most books have a 1 year inactivity rule--if they have one at all. 30 days is horrible.

Making a deposit is difficult if you can't get into your disabled account to generate a btc address. I guess 5D would have to email it to you. Totally unnecessary.

More books do not want dormant accounts any longer

I have books and make $1 wagers here and there to keep them active

Define dormant, because no Book I know considers it as 30 days. Some people play Football only, so will 5D deactivate all these accounts in March and force them to reactivate in September? Looks like it, and it's just plain stupid. This is why Books that do have a inactivity rule choose 1 year.

This really doesn’t make a lot of sense. I’m hoping some details are being mixed up. If you place a futures bet for team X to win a division, you have to later make a deposit for them to grade your wager?

Any book that makes all kinds of requests when you withdraw and none when you deposit is full of shit. Move on, they are using your money to operate.

Pending wagers=dormant? That doesn't seem right yisman, perhaps you should inquire UP the CS chain.

    Hi yisman,

We'll ask 5Dimes to clarify the dormancy policy. How many months ago were the wagers placed?

Of course not. The second response could have been worded better obviously. If he didn't want to reopen the account, he'd just have to request payment via live chat.

Thanks for sharing. Generally, dormancy policy is not one size fits all. It's tough to say why Yisman would have triggered it without knowing anything more than what's been shared.

Why wouldn't it be one size fits all?

I signed up to 5Dimes with the understanding that their dormancy policy was a lot more than 30 days. When I signed up, the T&C specifically gave a figure which I recall as six months but could even have been longer. I wouldn't have signed up if I knew my account could be shut down after 30 days of dormancy.

Pending wagers were futures bets from January or February, IIRC.
But I have made (and lost wagers) in July and/or August, so my account wasn't dormant that long.

Not only did they deactivate my account, I was not even notified as to what was happening. Last night all of a sudden my login didn't work. I e-mailed them and I posted the responses I got.

Obviously they're not doing it to every account, so we would've heard about this before.

They're picking and choosing accounts for whatever reason. As mentioned, a friend of mine told me this happened to him a few days ago, and I thought that was odd, but I never thought it would happen to me.
