I went to my local casino tonight (I live in Cal) and promptly lost $80 playing electronic roulette. After driving an hour to get there I didn't want to leave right away. I remembered reading a story online that alleged a local casino was cheating at multideck blackjack by adding extra 4's to the shoe. I stopped by the first blackjack table (which happened to be single deck) and just started counting all the 4's in each deck. I never did see more than four 4's. Stood there for about an hour and noticed the dealer was cleaning up! It just didn't seem possible that everybody could be getting so many weak hands including the dealer! I think I saw 3 blackjacks and 2 natural 20's in one hour. In this particular casino when the deck is "spent" the dealer places the old deck on this device built into the table. As the old deck drops out of sight a new deck rises up to the table surface. The dealer grabs the virgin deck and gives a random player a plastic divider card to stick anywhere in the deck. The dealer then grabs all of the cards above the divider and places them under the lower group of cards. He discards the divider which is now at the top of the deck as well as the very first card on top. He then dispenses them in typical fashion starting with the dealer's leftmost player. Anyway, I came home and played out some blackjack hands with a full deck of cards and couldn't prove any of my underlying suspicions. I won't get into what those were. But, here's what I did find that's disturbing! By playing with various sequences of cards I noticed that if "10 value" cards (10,J,Q,K) are placed exactly every third card in the deck; the players will be incredibly disadvantaged! ANYWAY THE DECK IS CUT THERE WILL BE NO NATURAL 2 CARD 20'S FOR ANYBODY (DEALER INCLUDED) IN A 3, 4, OR 6 PLAYER GAME !!!!!! In a 5 player game there's 2 natural 20's per round but the dealer gets one of them 33% of the time. THIS HAS TO BE A POWERFUL EDGE! Remember, in a 52 card deck there is 16 cards with a value of 10 so a pattern of every third card being a "10 value" card is sustainable from top to bottom. My computer skills svck and I'm out of space. If you continue the sequence you'll see the pattern holds true. It doesn't matter if players draw extra cards, the pattern will resume. The #'s below the dashed lines represent the dealer's cards.
What a mess! I had everything separated with gaps and now it's worthless! Sorry!
