It's graded as a winner, but they lost by a 0.5 point.

If I report it, there is a chance that by having a conscience (and potentially saving the book some cash) that I will get a free play or something out of it.

If I don't report it, there is always a chance that they will catch the error. Or they won't, and my $$$ will remain in the account.

    Thoughts?

The book will catch it and reverse it.

You won't get a freeplay.........I have pointed out errant lines to a particular site more than once (like being 3 pts off on a 1h nba line) and that book has never given me anything........

It matters what site it is..... sites like 5 dimes or bookmaker wont give you a freeplay.... sites like BetPhoenix more then likely would.... I would report it...

Report it. If you like playing at that book, it's best to treat them as you'd like them to treat you.

Further, some books say in their terms that if you make bets with winnings mistakenly awarded, they are entitled to void those bets too (along with keeping subsequent winnings) when they reverse their earlier mistake. I don't know how often such a provision is enforced, and it may not apply to your particular situation - I doubt too many higher grade books would do this - but the threat is enough.

            Well I'm retarded...

Turns out my bet won by 9.5 points, not lost by the hook. Saw one team up by 5 and I'm sitting here with +4.5 thinking to myself "god dammit all".

Knew this book wouldn't make a mistake like this.

They ALL make mistakes from time to time ... humans run them all

As stated in an earlier response the best policy is to treat your bookies as you'd like them to treat you ... with honesty.

Yes, I've reported errors to a few books and at least one gave me a bonus for doing so. Another must have thought I was an idiot and despite two emails to inform them of their error they ignored it and my account was $1900 better off for it, but my conscience was clear

It was one of those pathetic UK excuses for a bookmaker who I ended up sacking in the end but taking a nice bundle of cash with me.

like someone said books like 5 dimes and bookmaker will catch. If it is a major sport, 100% they catch it. Your best bet is to call, let them know, and don't expect anything. Make a note of when you called. If for whatever reason you have a small dispute or something down the road this may help you out and portray you as an honest player. Thats is the best you could expect out of it from those two books.

I always hear about "books giving you a free play for your honesty" but I've literally never gotten one. I know multiple books that have notices about "report mistakes to us and get a free play," and I've reported games where they flipflopped the dog and fave, where they listed the wrong starting pitcher for MLB, etc, and have never gotten a thing. I was once double-credited with a mid-4 figure withdrawal to my Neteller account and informed the book immediately, and just got a "thank you for your honesty." I wasn't necessarily expecting a free play in that circumstance, but the amount was fairly substantial so even a token $20 free play would have been a nice gesture. It's pretty crappy though IMO when a book doesn't give you some sort of reward for pointing out a flipflopped line or the wrong starting pitcher, because you're essentially doing their job for them.
