#4Dundy old chum,
IMO you have been nothing more than a breath of fresh air and a credit to SBR,I appreciate your knowledge and expertise in sports and betting issues in general.Needless to say that i also respect and seek your learned opinions on the sportsbooks evaluations also. With this mind old chum ,could you tell me what you think about Betdaq?I am aware that they are smaller, much smaller than BetFair but they give me the impression of being a cockamamie little "fly-by-niter" also.Since the closing of TRADESPORTS i have been looking for a 3rd Xchge to add to Matchbook and betfair?Right now i only have money(and very little of it)in matchbook but next September i will reluctantly open a account with these BETFAIR assholes and was hoping to go with BETMAKER but they unfortunately look to be a non starter. I am hoping that bet phoenix will open a xchge as i red a few days ago on this site because they have THE BEST a C.S. in the business. The fellow named Richard seem to be on the JOB /24-7.
Good LuckComment -

#6Betdaq are OK. Bear in mind they have actually been around as long (very nearly anyway) as Betfair have. Overall liquidity on main events is on average 20% or so of what you will see on Betfair, which is OK. They have 1% commissions on Asian Handicaps for soccer which is their forte.
I actually enjoy trading manually on Betdaq for NFL because the spreads are less tight. There are also good ´off the shelf´ free applications that work with the API.
Their main problem is one that, for the life of me, I can´t understand why the have not addressed; and falls right into what you mention about them being "fly-by-niters". Whilst they are UK Licensed and technically Irish owned, they are actually registered in some god-awful jurisdiction (can´t remember which - Comoros?). Given that an exchange needs market makers and market makers need large account balances (there are many in the millions at Betfair), how on earth do they expect to inspire the sort of trust needed to maintain that sort of deposit if they feel the need to hide like that?
I am by no means in that sort of league but the above combined with the (not unrelated) fact that Betdaq is still loss-making, means that even though I like Betdaq, I would be no more inclined to maintain a 10k balance there than I would at a C-rated Caribbean book.
My own feeling is that ultimately and unfortunately Betdaq will disappear, they have not made any real inroads despite Betfair´s monopolistic approach of late and if they were ever going to be able to, the last year and a bit would have been the perfect time.Comment -

Thanks Dundy,
I am going to wait and see what will happen with Betmaker and hope for BetPhoenix to open their own Xchge.Comment -

I would not discourage you from playing at Betdaq right now, there have never been issues of them not paying/slow paying and if they do close I would fully expect it to be orderly (acquired by you know who, most likely). I just would not be comfortable with a large balance there.
Betmaker as you say, looks like a stillborn.
A Phoenix Group exchange would be interesting, but they would have to supplant Matchbook (they could not co-exist for long) whilst still having to clear the same obstacles that Matchbook has largely failed to. Most notably, a general lack of enthusiasm for exchanges amongst US casual players.Comment -
