Most actually lose money for their clients.

I don't mean what they lose for the clients, but what the owner of the sports handicapping service himself makes for selling his picks

I also agree, on average handicapping services losing money. It is difficult to understand why though, because there are plenty people able to win in the long run.
If you want to run handicapping service but don't know much - run, but find someone who can pick winners so your clients will be happy.

Depends on how many suckers they can find. Varies widely I'm sure.

Because true handicappers don't need to find clients to make money. They can do it all on their own. The people selling picks are marketing people with little to no handicapping skills. They're more interested in taking your money than making you money.

The problems with "touts" is that you have to assume lines makers are wrong. In major sports, this is not true.

Touts are essentially saying they are smarter than vegas lines makers
