Let's say I'm a resident of New Jersey and I have an account at a US based sportsbook but I travel to California a lot and would like to login and place wagers while in California. I'm guessing this isn't legit right?

They use geolocation software. So you can't do it unless you geolocate inside the state where you are trying to bet.
