    **question about bookmaker's golf rules
not specifically for this tournament (which is a mess with the handicap at some sites)... but overall for a tournament golf matchup, if both guys tie for 1st and make a playoff for the win, do the playoff holes count?

i couldn't get a clear answer on chat... and their rules are also unclear, it says the playoff holes don't count for handicap bets (-1.5) which makes me think they count for regular tournament matchups?

some sites the playoff holes count, some they don't, but the rest are pretty clear on their rules. here are bookmaker's rules...

    Golf General Rules

Betting on all Major Golfing Events
    • Straight money line betting as well as match-ups.
    • Betting right up until tee-off time.
    • In head-to-head match-ups, both golfers must tee-off in order to have action. If one player misses the cut, his opponent is deemed the winner. If both players miss the cut the lower score wins. If both players have the same score, then all wagers are refunded.

Special Handicap Head to HeadsIf a player withdraws after tee off or misses the cut the player who plays the most holes wins. Playoffs do not count for handicap bets.To Win a Tournament
    • Bets placed on Golfers to win a Tournament within 10 days of the tournament commencing and the player is a non starter, bets will be refunded.
    • The Only Outright bets that will not be refunded is when 'ALL IN' betting is stated, and they are genuine 'Futures' Markets and posted more than 10 days prior to the Tournament.
    • In the event of a tie where 3 or more competitors are offered in one betting option dead heat rules apply. Dead Heat rules state the payout will be divided by the stake (wager amount and winnings) divided by the number of players tied.
    • If a tournament is shortened, after it has started, then all bets stand. Bets accepted after the end of a day's play are void unless there is further play, which counts towards the result of the tournament (other than a playoff). Or the betting is specifically stated to be on the outcome of a playoff.
    • If a tournament is officially abandoned, all bets on the tournament are void, except options that have already been decided.

I wouldn't assume that. I would expect rules for playoff holes in golf to follow rules for extra-time in soccer and doesn't count. IE the score at the end of the regular 72 holes, 4 rounds, (or less if reduced by local circumstances), counts. Playoff holes would be used to break a tie for the outright win but scores on any playoff holes would NOT affect bets other than on the outright win.

I could be wildly wrong. I don't know how a book would settle bets in a match-play tournament. I could understand rules being different for that, but that wouldn't affect handicap bets in a normal tournament.

yes the rules are clear that handicap bets aren't affected by the playoff holes... but it's unclear whether they count on regular matchup bets.

some sites do include the playoff holes, some don't. has never happened to me at bookmaker, it's a rare occurrence to be sure, but i would still like to know since i bet a lot of golf matchups there.

Have you seen other books that talk about this specific situation in their rules Mike?

I was thinking similar to semibluff, that extra holes probably would not count, but don't know either.

            almost everyone else mentions it

            betonline:
            • [*=left]A playoff for the tournament will not be used to determine the outcome of tournament matchups. If players are tied after the specified number of tournament holes have been completed then the matchup will be deemed a tie.

            5d:
Tournament and final round matchups do not include playoff holes (unless otherwise specified).

            gtbets:
            • If both golfers in a match-up are in a playoff a) winner of play-off wins the match-up and b) all other playoff participants tie each other

I've just re-read their rules a couple of times and agree it is not clear.

How about trying an email instead of live chat CS and ask for a manger to look at it as saying "i would have to wait and see how it was graded before they could tell me what the rule is" is all you could get from regular customer service?

ok i sent an email to cs@bookmaker.eu asking for clarification on this, as well as post-race inspection for nascar since they should really mention that in their rules also.

still didn't hear back confirming golf/nascar rules

i guess i'll have to wait until one of them is graded to know what the rules are
