    Scammed by Betfair!
Hello everyone, I started betting with Betfair yesterday with an initial deposit of $200, with a a series of winnings and loses, I was able to accumulate a total winning of $1,070. I withdrew the $870 the next day and upon checking my account during the evening, my account was blocked and was only withdrawn the initial $200 I deposited.

    Be careful with this site!

This is what the Betfair agent told me:
"I have checked for you David. Unfortunately, your account has been closed on business grounds and this decision cannot be reversed. Your due funds have been withdrawn to you as well. Apologies for the inconvenience. Thank you for waiting while I got the information. "

"I apologize David. This decision is made on business grounds and has nothing to do with you winning bets."

"Your due funds have been withdrawn to you. I apologize but there is nothing I can do about this as this decision is made on business grounds."

That's odd, I always thought betfair was very safe.

Were you betting on the exchange or sportsbook?

yes, I researched well first before joining Betfair. Betting on Sportsbook - won a lot on their live games. This is very alarming. The agent won't even say the reason but only indicate that's its a business decision.

Betfair just collects commission, not booking the bets against their own bankroll.

Complain to IBAS or whoever your regulator is. Betfair have to pay winning bets even if they then decide to close your account.

Unbelievable reply I got from Betfair. Beware of this site guys, in short if the outcome is not at their advantage, they can easily go to their terms and condition to terminate an account so as to escape payment to their bettors. Extremely disappointed.

                  Hi David

                  Thanks for getting in touch.

I would like to firstly apologise for this experience.

Unfortunately. after reviewing your account, I can confirm that our Security Team have taken the decision to close your account and return to you your initial deposit.

I'm sorry for this David, however, this decision has been taken in line with our terms and conditions which state that we reserve the right to close any account. Unfortunately this also means that you won't be able to hold another account with us.

I appreciate that this is not the answer you were hoping for, however, this decision will have to stand and won't be reversed.

Apologies once again for this outcome and any frustration caused.

                  Thanks,

                  Jean-Marc

What "agent" did you use? Betfair sportsbook is a normal soft bookie and obviously doesnt allow agent accounts.

betfair sportsbook are the softest book. you can be miles out in play oddswise, and they still pay out.

as they have told you its nothing to do with the bets, so its probably something to do with the sign up procedure - who you are how you funded etc.

They have the right to refuse you service, refund your deposit and cancel any bets made. If they have a proper reason and do it fast enough.

You'll need to appeal to ibas-uk.com to check if they did.
