Bovada graded Ramirez by TKO as a loss...
I want to start by saying that I think Bovada is an overall great book. They have a ton of betting options, pay out reliably and quickly, and their customer service is friendly and professional.

Unfortunately, they graded this past weekend’s Gilberto Ramirez fight incorrectly. Mistakes happen, and it wouldn’t have been a big deal if they eventually acknowledged it. I let them know via chat, message, and multiple phone calls. I was told that the fight was a “forfeit,” and my bet of KO/TKO/DQ was a loss. I read through their rules and couldn’t find anything to support their ruling.

I was eventually refunded my initial risk amount in the form of a bonus with a 1x rollover. This was a small wager, and at the end of the day, I’m not concerned about the money. I’m disappointed that an A+ book incorrectly graded the outcome of a professional boxing match.

    Several things:

1 - Karpency quit in his corner because he was getting beaten badly and thought he had broken ribs (as a result of punches landed by Ramirez during the fight).

2 - It was officially announced from the ring as a TKO victory, and the ESPN commentators called it a TKO.

3 - It counts as a TKO on Ramirez’s official record.

    4 - Technically, a “retirement” is considered a TKO.

I did a quick Google search and found articles talking about Ramirez’s TKO victory. I also found comments on another forum about Bovada attempting to grade a TKO as a loss this way back on November 3, 2018 (Donaire/Burnett). They eventually corrected it and credited bettors.

Again, I like Bovada. I understand that everyone makes mistakes. I can only hope that someone who has some influence will see this post and improve the way they grade boxing matches, and future boxing bettors will have their tickets accurately reflect the final outcome of the match.

As for me, I’ve withdrawn my money and I’m looking for a new book. I may return one day, but for now they’ve lost my respect and trust.

Absolutely preposterous. Whoever is their bet grader for combat sports needs to be fired. Any guy that wins when the other guy quits is awarded a TKO. What the hell else would you score it as?! That’s bad. Real bad.

Very strange ruling. Normally it's points or 'everything else' - KO, TKO, submission, DQ, injury, the lot.

So you at least got a refund, but that's still bullshit. You penetrating won that bet. Let it be known Bovada does not honor their bets.

If nothing else, I was impressed with their customer support. They were professional, friendly, and as helpful as they could be. I still just can't believe they haven't acknowledged their grading mistake.

Giving this thread a quick bump since there's a big boxing match tonight (Crawford vs Khan). Be careful if you bet this fight at Bovada. If Khan were to quit in his corner, based on my experience, Bovada will grade your Crawford by KO/TKO/DQ ticket as a loss. If you think Crawford is going to stop Khan, taking the Under may be a "safer" bet.

Given how easy it has been to hit Khan of late and how he's struggled to absorb punishment he might not last long enough to get back to his corner. I don't know Crawford but i'd be shocked if Khan could go the distance with any quality opponent. He's looked a shell of what he used to be. Could be a very, very short fight.
