This is incredible to me and I must say the OP is handling this in a very mature manner. Excuse my naivety as I am not a poker player but can someone explain....
A free play is where you are given a chance to win real money in a tournament requiring no money to enter. If you win the tournament the free play money then turns into real money or pomo money? So if it is real money you can withdraw it if it is promo money you must play it. Well assuming you have to play it eventually it somehow must get converted to real money. In this case after three years I am assuming it was converted. OP played it and hit a huge pay day. Whether he deposited it or won the money what difference does it make. He won a tournament originally which earned him the free money. Please let me know what I am missing if anything. thxs

Gotcha, So whether you deposited it or won it in a promotion they offered then you earned it fair and square and its yours to use as you please. 5 dimes is taking the stance that you abused the system for years and never really contributed to the site with hard cash. They look at you as a free loader or someone who gained the system. Not my opinion but clearly theirs. I would not say they have stolen the money (although i know you feel they stole it from you) unless they did not put it back in the pot. Has anyone verified whether they have put it back or just pocketed it? Seems cut and dry that you are owed the money. The story is starting to gain traction online and in the gambling world. I saw someone offered for you to do a radio show. Do it! Get your story out! If 5dimes is smart they will reverse the decision and use this as good publicity. " Player turns a free role on our site into 54K" What a great story. Unfortunately books/casinos feel players will do anything they can to screw them. Most take a very hard, cynical, and skeptical approach. I understand it to an extent as they need to protect them selves but, in this case it has gone too far. SBR in my experience has been very helpful at resolving disputes. Take them up on their offer to file a dispute.

But he’s contributing because he played at real tables after that. So if he’s winning someone else is losing their money and depositing. 5dimes needs to make this right. I would also like to know if they put that money back into the bad beat jackpot. If they pocketed it then they need to be put on blast everywhere

I’ve played a lot of poker on 5d in the past... as a smaller poker player I’ve always loved the allure of the bbjp on the 25/50nl. This is an absolutely disgusting story.., I’ve dumped thousands into the sports book and will immediately start looking for a new book.

Doesn’t make sense to me why they wouldn’t pay it out... it’s not even their money (like a casino jackpot) they rake it from players. Besides, they’re just gonna hold onto it for a different winner anyway.

I believe 5dimes is part of several sites using the same poker platform, this is to increase the number of players overall.

Thus, the bad beat jackpot is likely a joined pool, where each skin has the money set aside from its players who played and they pay the poker platform pool. When a player hits the BBJ, the skin, here 5dimes, receives the money from the pool. There is no follow up with if the player is actually paid, generally the skin site just receives the money.

Thus, most likely 5dimes is pocketing the money. This can be argued the same as both online and in person casinos have progressive slots that link up between casinos. Think of “Mega Bucks”, where the casino would pay out the player and then receive the jackpot progressive funds from the progressive pool that many casinos paid into.

Their argument of him not depositing is invalid IMO. The money was being raked, he never cheated the game and paid the drop. There have been stories of freeroll winners building up their online poker bankrolls on Pokerstars and other sites. Pretty bad that a site would do something shady like this.

5dimes has their own poker room called Grand poker. There are no skins. They are trying to pocket the money, because they have not put the money they took from me back into the BBJ. They don't understand the optics of changing the rule 6 days after my win, and trying to pocket the money. Sports bettors shouldn't keep any significant money on there as it seems they unable to pay out any significant wins. I have read of them refusing to pay out when players hit 5 team parlays.

Retarded move by 5dimes. Don't have a bad beat jackpot if you don't intend to pay it; the rake was collected for the jackpot. In a sense it doesn't and shouldn't matter who wins the pot as the pot is PRE FUNDED via rake. The jackpot hitting costs them all of zero dollars... Unless they've already robbed Peter (the bad beat pot) to pay Paul (sportsbook winners), which is certainly what this smells like.

5Dimes is paying the player the full amount. The rule about having to have deposited to claim a BBJ was supposed to have been published and appeared later than intended, but the player in good faith participated and will be paid.

Whenever humans are involved in drafting anything or manual action is needed (props a good example industry wide) some mistakes are bound to happen. But how books handle complaints is what separates the top rated sites from the rest of the pack.

I would file a complaint with SBR but don't hold your breathe the likelihood they will do anything is slightly above 0%. Sadly SBR has no ethical standards and will not upset any book who pay them $.
