Bookmakers who ask selfies with identity documents
    Hi
I would like to know which bookmakers require a selfie during the verification process. I know that bet365 and expekt require this, but do you know others?

I find it annoying and I do not have a smartphone to take a picture of me.

no smartphone? friends of family neither? no laptop? no webcam? no camera? in 2018?

or is it just hard to find an ID with selfies included?

There are many books who will require this of you so it's best to get a photo somehow and save it on your computer or phone for the future.

Agree it's an additional hassle. My advice would be to go through the verification process right after opening the account, but BEFORE you fund it.

Perhaps, but I'd rather know if there's problem right away, before I attempt to withdraw five figures. BTW, I "pre-verified" with the Cris Books (Bookmaker, Justbet and Galaxy) and it resulted in a much smoother process when I went to collect.

Is this even legal to demand a selfie for ID?

I know its in their terms, but that doesnt mean its actually legal.

any other organisations ask for this, or just bookies?

BetOnline ask, but it is NOT in line with BOL terms and conditions!! Just like verification over the phone.

But they don't care. And SBR does nothing--not even a mere mention on its news page that a dispute even exists with BOL.

What do you think could be illegal about it?

                        Anywhere?

All UK and Australian licensed books ask for it from some people.

Open a Forex trading account with a big house online and you'll very likely be asked for it before being allowed to deposit even.

Because its an unusual thing to ask for. And if they asked everyone to do it, a lot wouldnt bother when they just want a bet on sports.
Wanna bet on football? yes 70%
Wanna bet on football but give us a selfie? yes 25%

More so when they already take your money, then ask.. Less so if its clear from the start (betfair warns you before you bet)

Oh, I get that it's intrusive. First time I was asked I was kind of pissed off about it myself.

But i don't think it could be illegal. I can't think of how anyway.

Good books don't ask for it very often. But in a world where there are websites openly selling bookmaker/ewallet accounts with basic ID, it is understandable why they use it as a second level KYC option.

Legal books do a lot of things like that you won't like. They can ask for proof of your money source and income for example.

When it comes to bad books, of which there are many licensed around the world, they do use stuff like the selfie as a form of harassment/punishment

If I had the power to change things, I would take most of that sort of responsibility away from bookmakers and have an independent body to provide ID passes for bettors and review any questionable accounts.

exactly, they couldnt care less if youre depositing with a stolen card but want proof when withdrawing pretty much tells you all you need to know

Yeah it makes no sense when these places ask you for selfies. Luckily Ive never had a sportsbook do that. But it seems every single one of these garbage bitcoin exchanges ask for it. What I don't get is I can open up a bank account with any bank in the United States online and not one has asked me to take a fukin selfie. Also it is sometimes difficult to hold your i.d in your hand and hold the phone. One place wanted me to hold a godam piece of paper with some secret code and my god dam id. I said what do you think I have 5 fukin hands. These places are ridiculous.

                                        This is a non-issue

I've also had to give id@selfie for broker and for being able to bank deposit checks on phone; especially the newer, smaller, or expanding into a new area institutions do this..it's cheaper.
Large, established US financial institutions have other non-intrusive ways(and fraud insurance) that is either unavailable or cost prohibitive to others.
Online fraud is just too easy, and even more so if located out of country. A book struggles to make pennies per dollar from its customers, and along comes a grifter to scam 5 figures.

YES, I don't trust giving my details out(5Dimes card fraud complaints an example). I thought about using fake id & details(to protect credit info), but an overseas book- if they spend enough- can verify if the id exists, also can look up the personal details of an address' residents.

AND hoping for strictly bitcoin + anonymous or no id is Pollyannish- how would adverse action vs winners be enacted?

As always, life sucks...…….And then you die.

The only good suggestion in this entire thread is optional a suggestion to have an independent id verification service. Everyone else just whining about a necessary evil. If they don’t verify especially with credit card deposits they will have people taking shots at them and doing chargebacks if they lose. Also leaves them open to bonus abuse. I’m not one to defend books I don’t think They are run by good people for most part but they would go out of business if they didn’t protect themselves some way.

To answer original op. Most the bitcoin books do not require id if you aren’t taking some kind of bonus.
