Wow, it's just terrible ... it's not like this guy has risked $200,000 ... he said 200 (GBP?), what's that today - less than $300 ?

How can they confiscate funds for so long?

I would suggest to the OP to take it to more forums and share his story in other places as well, you should hurt their reputation and do it aggressively. They deserve all the bad reputation they can get for doing this.

I would like to post this story on other forums to raise awareness of this issue. would you happen to have any suggestions?

Just google "william hill reviews" and look for the very first result.

It's forbidden for some reason to mention the name of that site on SBR but I guess 499 Reviews with an average rating of 0.7/10 can be considered significant.

Here we are almost a year later, and no developments from William Hill. Havent received any emails from them whatsoever .

Although I do have a question, after some digging, I found out that some bookmakers are allowed to suspend markets for up to 12 months maximum? Is that true? I am pretty certain that is the case with Betfair, so would the same apply to William Hill?

I contacted IBAS back in May and it took them till October to reply, and their reply was along the lines of ' the bookmaker has said it is under investigation, so it will remain that way until the investigation is done.' They also sounded like they sided with William Hill because William Hill sent them a history of my bets ( apparently an average of 10CHF per bet, which is a lie) and they are questioning why I wagered 200CHF for the bet in question. I am certain I have wagered more than 500-800CHF on a bet before, but William Hill did not mention this to IBAS at all. ( Obviously cannot access account because it is locked).

IBAS said they are going to wait for William Hill to contact them regarding the investigation results, how long could that possibly take? IBAS also suggested that I could void my bet ( William Hill apparently agreed to do this) and take my stake back and forfeiting the potential winnings. ( To which I told them I would most certainly not be voiding my bet).

Here were are almost a year later with no reply, and I am in a bit of a pickle as to what to do next......

I was told by IBAS ' William Hill have advised that their policy is to leave the market unsettled for a maximum period of 12 months, to allow the relevant sports governing bodies to complete an investigation into the event in question.'

Does this mean that once it reaches one year and my account is still suspended, William Hill will be breaching their own policy?

I have never heard that before myself.

But if you have an email from IBAS saying that it will give you some backup to ensure you are paid by then.

In the past a lot of people have reported being paid in the 12-14 month range. Maybe this policy has been the reason for that.

Williamhill blocked my account, I contacted them and they ask for documents for verification with photo of me a long with everything and that I did. I got an email that all my documents have been accepted that I should send the my payment details I used in funding the account before my account will be reopening. I waited for 24hrs and decided to contact them again and I was told my account can not be reactivated and my money has been cut off just for no reason. I need help with this please anyone.

Williamhill also blocked my account and take my money just for no reason. First my account was blocked, I contacted customers care and the ask me to send my documents for verification with a photo of them and myself, I did all they ask for and there decided not to reopen my account again and my funds was seized. I ask the customer care what I did wrong? They said they don't know, that it was decided by the authorities from the back room.

                  Hi All,

Is there any update on the above issue? I wish i've read those comments before registering in WH.
Anyway - I registered, placed my bet and won. Next thing I know my account is blocked. I was advised to contact the support agents. Did that - they told me that the game is under investigation and I asked when can i expect a reply from them - we don't know they said. So I hope i dont end up in the above situation and hope your issue gets resolved too.
