#2You can look at the UK for a prediction or even PokerStars and the other poker companies now licensed. The road to success seems to be make as much loot as you can while unlicensed so you can pay your way and prove you can run a ship when the transition hits moves to the taxed model.Comment -

#4I've been expecting some sort of killer app, peer to peer, exchange like, system to appear and revolutionize the industry for a long time.
Less sure it ever will now although blockchain architecture seems like the natural backend for that sort of thing..Comment -

#18The government will be part book as they tax the bookmakers. The books will pass the tax to the customer with -120 lines, and higher vig in other markets altogether.
Many of us won't like the erosion of profits and will simply flock to other markets. On the other hand, those who stay will likely see an influx of new money to soften the markets as advertising pops up everywhere.
Once legalized there would likely be an effort to attract more customers that will just accept -120 and gobble up high vig props and futures, like many amateur bettors do now.
Those guys will be make it easier to win, but the rise in cost is still a barrier for many.
Online could go to -110, but they will limit us all quickly.

If widely legal, I'm sure sports betting would have similar rules. Losing bettors won't have to worry about it, unless they only show the winnings. The government will be taxing the books, only making small IRS changes for individuals.
Of course, large payouts will always be reported, unless you take measure to avoid the over-sized payouts.
Those who earn the majority of their income from sports will have to report as such.Comment -
