New Quebec Budget Forces ISP's to block illegal gambling sites
R.I.P. sportsbetting, poker and gambling in Quebec.

"Changes to the Consumer Protection Act and laws governing gambling so that Internet service providers must block access to online gambling websites on a list of “illegal sites” created by Loto-Québec"

They are forcing operators to get licensed which will basically leave places like Pokerstars + (new player rake) and Espacejeux only for poker. The good thing is it will likely take anywhere from 6 months -2 years for the list to be fully implemented and complied with. If you have large sportsbook balances I would suggest starting to get them off websites now and/or looking into getting a VPN solution setup.

They are going to create a war with the mohawks. I really don't think the Kahnawake gaming commission will sit by while all the sites it licenses are being blocked in Quebec.

You guys in Ontario take note if these ISP bannings are enacted in Quebec, you guys aren't far behind:

Ontario is considering steps it can take to control offshore online gaming, Finance Minister Charles Sousa says.

TORONTO - Ontario is considering steps it can take to control offshore online gaming, Finance Minister Charles Sousa says.

      ...
But the minister has also spoken to his counterpart from Quebec who is attempting to expand the province’s reach beyond its borders to regulate offshore igaming.
“We’re looking closely at what they’re doing, but I’m nowhere near determining how we would actually enforce that,” Sousa said Tuesday. “I’m interested. I’m having a joint cabinet meeting with the ministers of Quebec in the coming days, and I look forward to seeing how they’re going to proceed.”

      ...

The Ontario government is “not so much” motivated by the proceeds, as by the desire to provide an online gambling opportunity with far stricter controls than existing offshore sites, Sousa said.
