Coinbase hasn't confiscated money so they are OK until they shut you down. Circle is another route for you. If you use localbitcoins, you can make a profit by selling over market price. Sell with a reputable buyer. You will transfer bitcoins to localbitcoins. They will hold the coins in escrow. When you get paid, click paid and localbitcoins will release the coins to the buyer.

You can buy bitcoins through Circle. They explain it better than I can.

How to Buy Bitcoin with Circle

</aside>How do you buy Bitcoin? Well, there are a number of one-off ways to do it, buy it on localbitcoincs.com, bitcoin ATM’s, a friend or with your bank account. Coinbase was the 1st US based company to make buying bitcoin for mass population easy. Fast forward 12 months and we now have another US company that makes it just as easy, Circle.
About a year ago, Circle snagged $9M in Series A funding (that was a big deal as far as Bitcoin and Series A funding went) and the excitement about this company began, but it felt like they were in beta for a very long time with invitations being issued only for those who wanted to test out the wallet and service. Their service finally opened up to John Q. Public in late September.
Why you should buy your bitcoin with Circle?

            It’s Easy
Circle’s interface isn’t flashy or confusing to understand. Once you set up your account information, you can buy up to $100 worth of bitcoin instantly. Anything in addition to that will have a 3-5 day waiting period while the bank clears the transaction. There is also a limit on how much you can buy or sell in a given week. This is a stop gap measure designed to protect them and you. The limit gradually increases as your account reputation does.

            No Fees
Circle decided not to charge any fees for this service, which means when you buy and sell bitcoin, you aren’t incurring any additional costs. Not that fees are high in the world of bitcoin, but it is a nice gesture by a start-up. Coinbase charges a 1% fee for conversion from bitcoin to fiat.

            You Can Use Your ***********
While many cringe at using credit to buy bitcoin, it is an option for you in addition to your bank account. Unlike Coinbase who uses your *********** as a backup in case your bank doesn’t have the required funds, Circle uses it as simply another way to buy bitcoin.
            Circle Is Insured and Secure
All bitcoin in your account are insured against theft and your bitcoin will be stored off-line. They are also one of the few bitcoin companies regulated by the U.S. Department of Treasury’s FinCEN. This is a big deal and should ease any worries you have regarding another Mt. Gox-like theft. Read how they secure your wallet.
How to buy bitcoin with Circle?

Once you create an account either online or through the mobile wallet (there is support for both iPhone and Android), you should set up 2 Factor Authentication! Google has Google Authenticator and it’s free and installs on both the iPhone and Android. 2 Factor is like adding a deadbolt to your account. It’s a 6 letter code that changes every 30 seconds. After logging into your account, you are prompted for your 2 factor code. Simply open the app and copy and paste the code when prompted. This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I would also set up the pin code for your mobile device if you plan to stay logged into your Circle wallet for 30 day increments.

The first time using Circle, you are going to have to set up a funding source, 9 times out of 10 you will use your bank account. If you are nervous with using your main account, set up a 2nd account solely for bitcoin. Ally Bank is one I use for my discretionary spending. They are 100% online (no branch locations) and are super easy to use to send money back and forth between my accounts.
Once you have entered your bank account and routing number, you will have to wait 3-5 days. Circle will make 2 small deposits which you will use to verify your account within Circle. Once you enter those amounts, your account is verified and you can start buying. For a more detailed description of how this works, see the Circle Help Center.
To actually start buying, find the menu list and look for for Deposit (on mobile) or Add Funds (on web). Don’t be confused that there is no Buy Bitcoin option. Circle chooses to use deposit terminology to indicate you are depositing bitcoin to your account instead of buying them. Click on one of these choices and you will see a display asking for an amount. Choose the amount you want in USD, not BTC. The tool converts that USD amount into bitcoin (Remember you do not have to buy 1 entire bitcoin). If this is your 1st time, I recommend depositing a very small amount, around $20. Any amount under $100 should appear instantly. The account will now reflect 2 totals, the amount you have in bitcoin and the amount in USD. And as the price of bitcoin changes so will your account balance fluctuate with the market.
This is how the web interface looks

This article describes how to set up your Circle account and buy bitcoin, it does not cover how to spend your bitcoin. I will write another article on how to use your bitcoin at participating stores and how to take advantage of gift cards for stores like Amazon, Banana Republic, Whole Foods and CVS.

</header>There’s been a lot of talk this week about the concerns around withdrawing to Coinbase when you’re using your bitcoins to gamble. A few bettors have received emails like the following from Coinbase:

“Upon review of your Coinbase account, we have determined that we can no longer provide you access to Coinbase Services. Please understand that Coinbase is a regulated Money Service Business under the FinCEN division of the U.S. Treasury Department and as such, we are required to review accounts in order to ensure compliance with regulations.
Gambling is illegal under US law even if you live outside of the US we cannot provide services to your account for the purpose of any type of gambling activity.”

Anonymity and security are always at the top of our minds, so we’d like to take a moment to reassure you that we don’t use a single address to withdraw your bitcoins from Nitrogen Sports. Your deposit address can also be changed (up to 5 times a day) if you’d like to ensure that you’re getting a completely brand new deposit address every time.

If you have any concerns about the security of your bitcoin, please don’t ever hesitate to give us a shout! Please submit a support ticket, and one of our amazing support staff would be happy to walk you through how we ensure your anonymity.

Localbitcoins also has a dispute section in case someone doesn't pay you. They would have to show proof that they actually sent the money before the bitcoins were released. To avoid any problems use a reputable buyer/seller. The reputation system is similar to e-bay.

Coinbase (and anyone else) would be just as able to identify gambling transactions and shut accounts whether they had our ID or not.

Them having ID does not suddenly make it "easy to track all your transactions".

It takes 4 days. You buy it instantly if you have a *********** on file. Recently my bank account went into negative funds and somehow was able to keep buying bitcoins. I'll probably have to send them a check.

I don't understand the personal attack as I would rather just discuss the topic at hand.

If the US government tells Coinbase we want to see your books, Coinbase says, "here you go". Stay as anonymous as possible.

There are other games being played with people having multiple accounts in the same way we figure out how to multi account with the books.

You are very sensitive if you take that as a personal attack. I was calling you out for being misleading, factually. Nothing personal about it.

Would you like to address the statement I was talking about at all?

"Because Coinbase needs your personal information it makes it easy to track all your transactions"

Like I said, it's strange that someone so helpful (and knowledgeable) would make such a statement. More like something I'd expect from one of the more ignorant btc scare mongers.

Casual readers will believe you due to your history but you have either made an error? or are purposely trying to undermine confidence for some reason?

And by the way. Here is the first post you made that kind of suggests you have an agenda and are prepared to lie to support it.

Again not personal. Just another factual observation about your sudden negative postings.

If no one has your personal information, then they don't know anything about your personal transactions. My wording may have been incorrect, but the meaning was as such.

Optional - I have many wallets. Most with blockchain.info. Coinabse is the only problem child. Hit blockchain.info, new wallet, put your password in and you are good to go.

Then you can you mixers or other ways of purchasing so that no one can connect the dots.

                                        No.

It was an attempt at a nice way of saying "Why are you suddenly posting this bullshit which you know is untrue?"

If your experience shows a 'mixer' is required when using coinbase, thats great info for those lucky enough not have lost their accounts. But it's irrelevant to your assertion that coinbase having ID makes it easy for them to track all your transactions.

Anyway, you obviously do not plan to retract or even address that. But it undermines all the good advice you do offer when you suddenly start posting false information in what appears an agenda to punish coinbase for banishing you. I just hope you see that and get past it.

It was an attempt at a nice way of saying "Why are you suddenly posting this bullshit which you know is untrue?"

The issue with Coinbase is true. They are incredibly douchey to deal with as well. I will go ahead and say I do wish them all the worst luck in the world.

No issue with Circle yet, though they also require personal info (obviously, since they connect to your bank).

Every time that you make a bitcoin transaction there is a trail. If both of us has Coinbase, then Coinbase can see every transaction between the two of us.

The same happens if Coinbase suspects an address is coming from a sportsbook. Then they shut you down. You use a mixer so that there is no trail and Coinbase has no idea where the money is going.

When you use a mixer, you send money to the mixer. Then the mixer sends money where you want it to go. It makes it untraceable because the mixer uses different bitcoin addresses for each transaction.

Bitcoin transactions can be viewed publicly in the blockchain, meaning anyone can analyze your bitcoin transactions and figure out their origins, potentially tracing them back to your exchanger where you bought the coins, thereby unmasking your real identity. Bitcoins are decentralized and peer-to-peer, but not anonymous by default. BitLaunder cleans your Bitcoins, removing all traces of previous ownership and transactions, thus completely 'washing' them to obscure their origins.

2 or 3 minutes at most. I use bitmixer.io. It may be best to use a mixer when dealing with Coinbase but after that there's not much reason when dealing with sportsbooks.
