I feel I wasn't treated fairly by a reputable book but wanted to get other ppl's thoughts.
In short, I asked the book to confirm their limits on a futures bet before I deposited. They first quoted a number, then checked with a manager and told me a lower number (max $100) but when I deposited and tried to place the bets, the limits were only $25 and $50. I complained before any games started that I was told something different but was not allowed to play $100 as quoted. The lines were not book errors.
More detailed version:
Before the Week 17 NFL games, I went on live chat to ask for the max limits on a Super Bowl matchup future (AFC Team X vs NFC Team Y) at a reputable online book and copied and pasted examples of the bets I wanted. The rep asked how much I wanted and I said between 200 and 500 to be safe. She said it wouldn't be a problem. I asked if she was sure because the limit would determine the amount of my deposit (I also wouldn't go through the effort of depositing if the limit was too low). She asked for my account info and said she would check with a manager and put me on hold. When she came back, she confirmed the max is actually $100 and that I could wager that $100 each time after the book moves the line. Since I only wanted the original lines before they moved and would lose value, I ran out and deposited $200 for two separate bets before the morning games started. I logged in and tried to submit $100 bets but was only able to get down for $50 and $25 each. I logged on to chat again a few minutes before the games started to complain that I was told I could do $100, hoping to get an adjustment before kickoff, but to no avail. This all happened in the 2 hours before the morning games (8 to 10 AM PST) last Sunday. When I later asked to speak to the manager, I was basically told no dice with no explanation.
I have the chat transcripts with the 2 customer service reps and manager but am not trying to tarnish the name of any book if the people here at SBR feel it wasn't wrong. I will post the transcripts and any other details if appropriate.
I'd appreciate any thoughts or opinions, thanks.
