Betfair leave almost all countries?

I read on their forum that somebody got a mail that from July 14th, they will work only from these countries :

Great Britain
Malta
Gibraltar
Ireland
Denmark

Did anybody receive the same email?

I think that is for Austrians. BF turn off only exchange from July 14 for Austrian residents.

There's strong mail around that Betfair will quit Australia after the Melbourne Cup.

For me that would be an enormous kick in the guts.

Freakin' idiots in charge of particularly the racing industry in this country have no idea what they are doing or the damage that will result.

I sent them an email of course, fortunately they quit only from Austria :

"Thank you for your e-mail.

I am only aware that we are no longer offering the exchange product in Austria as of the 14th.

I have not been informed of any other countries affected by this."

They haven't said why but it's assumed it is because it's losing money due to the cost of doing business there.

That's the problem with their Australian operation, which they are trying to sell to their local partners.

Are those offers any more generous than the corporates give to the mugs who they still allow to play with them?
