Find the Lock- When I first visited SBR I believed in the mantra of Sportsbook Review. But after you have been here a while one comes to understand that is the Bait that brings a player in. I gave up on trusting SBR for unbiased reviews of shops a long time ago. This is not Consumer Reports where they take no AD $$$. This site is Entertainment pure and Simple.
SBR is a complete JOKE! please discontinue my account!!

#108This is all true, can't argue with it. As much as SBR supported them with a B rating, there is a reason they were not an A+. Much like an actuary, SBR has to assess risk, BI seemed financially secure, so SBR gave them the B, you cannot project a financial backer who has been in the industry to pack up and bail. It could be argued that it was in the best interest of the players with funds there for SBR to stay quiet and see if new ownership would come along. In no way do I support their decision to withhold information (that they may or may not have known), but they may have seen it being in the best interest of the player. I promise the overwhelming majority of the cash was not deposited in the few days SBR may have neglected to notify everyone. People risking 30k, for others to have a shot at their 1.5 mil isn't THAT bad.Originally posted by FindTheLockLet me ask you this before I answer your questions. What does SBR stand for? SBR does not sell hamburgers. SBR does not sell alcohol or T shirts. SBR stands for Sports Book Review. They call themselves the watch dogs of the industry. If you buy a rottweiler to protect your junkyard and that rottweiler falls asleep while you get robbed, then you get a new rottweiler. I personally have no idea what the intentions of other people are. I am just saying that for what this site was built to do, it failed at its job, and it cost people money. I have no idea if the Rottweiler conspired to the heist of the junk yard, I just know that it failed to do its job. If I own a painting service that paints houses, and I bring a friend along to paint the house with me. I tell the customer they can trust me and I am the best painter that ever lived. My friend is not really that close with me, in fact, I just met him and had a few beers with him and decided to bring him along. I vowed for him so he is my responsibility. This guy robs the people who's house we are painting. The blame goes on me for attaching my name to his.
Similar to the situations with bailouts, if a B- book bailed out BI players, and offered a 10x rollover, with matching deposit, would you do it? It would be a tough decision, risking new funds, to regain others, much like the situation SBR was in.Comment -

#111You write like you know more about SBR and books than a regular poster. At first I thought you might be that kerry poster, because you use better grammar than most, but now I suspect you are more of an insider. I did not lose any money at betislands, but it saddens to me to think that I can not trust anyone if I do happen to get lucky one day and hit a big score offshore. I am down lifetime sports betting, so if I did hit the books for a decent some, I would like to at least get paid for my efforts. The only thing that keeps my head above water as far as gambling is concerned, is black jack. I honestly don't know why I just don't play black jack exclusively. Nice to have more than a 2 post back and forth with an intelligent person here. Just let this be a reminder that the shills are quite often not who you think they are. I can only wish someone would pay me to type on the computer.
And, you may think I am a shill, so this might be useless but CRIS books have always paid me, and as of recent 5dimes has as well. Hope you turn your sports gambling into a profit.Comment -

#114Of course you did. Remind me again, how often (5%??) does BOL manage to keep its word on its own payout time frames and what action have you taken?Originally posted by SBR LouA lot of the people posting now are the ones that thought BI was underrated before, and helped vote them #5 in the last poster's poll, ahead of A+ books even. A lot of sites want to be the first to make a declaration, even if it's just a cheesy copy and paste job of posts with no real insight as they weren't the ones on the ground trying to get answers, just like many networks want to be the first to report a story, but the truth is SBR took action as soon it became clear BetIslands was unable to keep its word with its own player payout time-frames. That's not what people that prefer to cope with a loss by levying blame want to hear, but it's the truth.
The player poll results are skewed because of the UIGEA, there is only one A rated book on that list.
Look, I like SBR, really I do, and I think some videos and conversations are interesting. I didnt have any funds with BI, and even though events like these pisses me off I feel like I can be relatively objective here. There are only two possible scenarios here, either 1. SBR did an atrocious job and failed miserably, or 2. SBR is involved in it all. Anyone saying differently is eyeing for a job or just blind. I dont know enough, but personally, gun to the head, I'd guess they just screwed up big time, but make no mistake about it they are at least partially to be blamed here.Comment -

#123If you do happen to make a big score at an off shore book, you can EXPECT to be taken advantage of. They are off shore for a reason. At the very least they will severely restrict your gambling limits. And they will make it more and more difficult to get your money cashed out. That's what they are in business to do - keep your money.Originally posted by FindTheLockI did not lose any money at betislands, but it saddens to me to think that I can not trust anyone if I do happen to get lucky one day and hit a big score offshore. If you deposit $ in offshore sportsbooks, you are taking a calculated risk. You want to gamble, so you take that risk. But you aslo have the risk of nvere seeign the $ returned to you.
Some people on SBR have stated they have lost up to $40,000 in their BI accounts. As always men tend to exaggerate their experience with women, how far they can hit a golf ball, and how much money they have won gambling - but let's believe them for discussion's sake. If you have $10's of thousands of $ in off shore accounts, you are indeed in danger of never seeing it again. There is no FDIC deposit insurance to fall back on, no legal recourse for you. Keep that in mind.Comment -

#124It appears that John doesn't want to give us the facts --- like who were the owners that they verified.Originally posted by tto827Sammy, do you have know of who was the first to publish that BI was done and when? I'm curious, cause I hear everyone knew, but as far as I've seen, no one knew enough to put their name behind it, hence why SBR didn't screw over a paying advertiser until they were sure. John may be as guilty as Jon, who knows, I just won't make a conclusion until we see all the facts.Comment -

#127see that is the saddest part. I am one of the few honest gamblers in the world. I take my losses on the chin and I pay my debts to these offshore bookies. I don't take any bonuses or try to charge back on my deposits when I lose. I lose, it sucks, and I try again. For me it is like a chess game that I can not seem to win. I don't bet extraordinarily large amounts because I can not afford to lose a lot of money, but the few hundred I do toss around here and there means a lot to me. I am trying to win a game that has the odds stacked severely against me, and I am well aware of this fact. All I ask in return is if I do manage to get my head out in front while crossing the finish line, is that I get what is owed to me. And I don't think that is asking too much.Originally posted by dmtraderIf you do happen to make a big score at an off shore book, you can EXPECT to be taken advantage of.
