Suppose I win a NFL Futures bet
In October I placed some money on what would be considered a long shot to win the Superbowl at a Vegas Sportsbook.I also notice that all payouts at the Sportsbook are in cash. Should I win, carrying around large amounts of cash in Vegas makes me nervous(I might spend it or lose it). Do they offer the option of paying your winnings by check at Las Vegas Sportsbook?

Yes, you can take the winnings in a check. Smarter to just take it in chips, however.

If you're really nervous, just mail in the winning ticket from home and they'll mail you a check back.

In the middle of Oct, I went to Las Vegas and bet 100 dollars on the Redskins. It was right after the loss to Carolina and I got a price of 150 to 1 to win the Superbowl.
All of a sudden they are hot.
        If I win:
        a) I am not going to mail in this ticket.Too risky. I will fly there and collect my winnings.
        b) No chips. I just want to get on a plane and return home.
        c) Do you have to pay taxes on a large winning ticket?

No risk what so ever if you make copy of ticket, send it registered mail with signature & reciept required, do it this way and you should have check in 2-4 weeks 100% guaranteed and you won't risk blowing a single penny in Vegas.
