Until I completely crash out midway through the season, I will maintain one of about a hundred EPL betting threads in the forum. Best of luck to all!
Week 1:
I don't like to parlay any bets, but taking United and Chelsea to win with any other selection is an extremely high percentage play, as both should win comfortably. My only concern here is that the latter looked a bit sluggish in some of their pre-season matches, but class should see them through in the end. If you're a "gambling man," consider doubling up on these two with any of your picks; you may be able to squeeze a wee bit of value out of the morning lines.
Tottenham vs. Man City OVER 2.5, +105
A lot of people are taking Spurs here @ pk, and rightfully so. They have a great opening day record at White Hart Lane, and are playing against an incredibly unpredictable team on the road. From what I saw in the exhibition matches, Man City also look to be a team still in transition with the many changes coming in and out of the squad. Yet, I tend to tread lightly in these top six match ups where teams have the individual quality to snatch a goal, sometimes undeservedly. And let's face it, if there is a team in the Prem as mercurial as City, its Tottenham. With this in mind, it's a coin flip for me. Both teams, however, had suspect defenses at times last year, and neither did too much sure things up in the back. I'm hoping for an exciting, up-and-down affair with plenty of goals to kick off the season. 2-1 Spurs, or 2-2 draw
Blackburn pk+120 vs. Everton
Everton are poised to push for European football this season, but head into a tough opening day clash with Blackburn. The Rovers put up quite an impressive home record last year, losing only three games all season at the formidable E-wood Park (one of which was to Everton who won both head-to-head fixtures). Neither team made many changes over the off season because of financial constraints, and both are notoriously slow out of the starting gates. Blackburn will again struggle to find goals this season, as they lack quality up front. Couple this with Big Sam's "anti-football," and one could envision a 1-1 draw, or 1-0 Everton win. But E-wood is expecting a sell out tomorrow, and plan to have a small ceremony honoring the 10-year anniversary of Jack Walker's death, the beloved owner who brought them back to the top flight. Emotions will be running high and the fans will do their best to urge the team to victory. 2-1 Rovers.
Good luck to all. The first few weeks are always tough to cap!
