NFL tonight:
Chiefs/Chargers U 45
I really like this play actually. The Chargers are supposed to roll in this game, but they've got a few big changes from last year and will be missing some offensive firepower. Both teams will be running the ball which should eat up the clock as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chiefs actually win this one.

Chargers -4.5
Ravens PK
Bottom line is that the Chiefs just aren't where the Chargers are right now in terms of talent. They did bring in two big name coordinators that will no doubt improve the team, but it won't happen overnight and especially against the Chargers who have won 4 straight division titles and the last 3 games played in Kansas City. The Chargers won't lose much with Matthews replacing Tomlinson and Crayton stepping in for Vincent Jackson, at least not against a retooled and unproven defense. On the other side of the ball you have the merely adequate Matt Cassel once again without a significant wide receiving threat. The Chiefs will need an aging Thomas Jones to be successful to open up the passing attack, but he will not have the offensive line he did last year with New York and the dropoff most running backs hit when they get into their 30's certainly won't help him.
Simply put, the Ravens are the better team than the Jets and homefield advantage won't be enough to make up for that. The Jets have well-known and outspoken leader in Rex Ryan, a dedicated fan base and media notoriety thanks to their participation in "Hard Knocks" this past summer, unfortunately this just creates more hype than they deserve and has very little to do with their talent. The team had a strong run in the playoffs but people tend to forget that they were lucky to make the postseason at all, backing in with a 9-7 record after the Colts and Bengals rested their starters for two easy victories. Mark Sanchez has never been consistent and has shown little to believe that he can handle the pressure he will surely face this season with the incredibly high expectations facing the Jets. With another year under his belt and the most talented receiving corps he's ever had, Joe Flacco should be able to find plenty of holes in the Jets secondary. The Jets have excellent corners, true, but John Harbaugh will mix up the play calling to find advantageous matchups for Boldin, Housh, Mason and Todd Heap, simply to match talent for the Jets to keep up with all night long.

Yeah, I definitely like the Ravens here. I'll wait until later to decide what play to make on it.
And I disagree to an extent on the Chiefs/Chargers game. First off, the Chargers receiving core is not significantly better than the Chiefs receiving core. Both are pretty mediocre. Patrick Crayton is not going to fill the void for Vincent Jackson. Crayton is getting old (31) and never was very effective. He only had 37 catches last year for 622 yds and 5 TDs. Not terrible, but not Vincent Jackson. The best receiver in the game tonight will probably be Antonio Gates, Chargers TE.
I think the game is going to come down to who can run the ball more effectively. Thomas Jones is getting old, but he's still had over 1,000 yards rushing in each of the past 5 seasons, including a career high 1,400 last season. The Chargers have their new top draft pick Ryan Mathews who was certainly one of the best backs in the draft, but he's still an untested rookie. Behind him the Chargers have Darren Sproles, who is more effective as a receiver of screen passes than he is as a running back.
Both teams will get in a few good pass plays, but in the end I think this game is decided by Offensive Lines vs. Rush Defenses. If hard pressed, I'd take Chiefs +4.5, but I think the Under is a better play.

Ok, I took Ravens +1 (-108). Ravens ML was @ -105, but I'll pay the small amount of extra juice just in case they happen to lose by 1 point. I think the Ravens just have a better team. Certainly a better passing game, but this will be a defensive game for sure. I'm playing this one small.

Bah, Stoke score the 3rd goal in the 3rd minute of stoppage time. Villa collapsed as I was afraid they would. I wont be betting on them for quite a while now. Too many questions. Oh well, glad I bet them small. 2-2 on the day in soccer and up almost a unit.

Um, Yeah, everything I said in this novel ended up to be correct. No offense Stale, as I know he's a very good capper, but I analyzed that game perfectly. Cheers () to anyone that tailed me (Mihaita) because I went 2-0 on the night on NFL and ended the day up about 4 units.

Later today I'm going with this play:
Werder Bremen/Tottenham Hotspur O 2.75
Playing this one big, and my only regret is that I didn't listen to Mihaita and play this one earlier when the Over was 2.5 at better odds. Should be a good win though because Tottenham is a defensive sieve in Europe and Werder is constantly a high scoring team. My prediction before my bet was Werder 2-1 Tottenham, but I wouldn't be surprised if this game even had 5 goals.

Also heeding Mihaita's advice and going with Barcelona -2. Going small on this. Man U -2 looks good to me too, but I wont be betting it as I'm still unsure about Man U this season.

Ok, I will have some Champions League plays either later tonight, or tomorrow. For tonight, I will be playing some MLB, which I haven't touched in a while. I've changed up my researching methods for MLB and prioritized starting pitchers' ERA lower than I previously valued it (it's helpful, but not the "great decider" I thought it was). My plays tonight:
LA Angels/Cleveland Indians U 9
Boston Red Sox ML
Philadelphia Phillies ML
Houston Astros ML
Each play will be for about 5% of my roll.

Thanks for the points, brother. Will be able to pay my point loan off early now.
Today I will be going with two of Mihaita's picks:
Arsenal/Braga O 2.75
Ã…tvidabergs FF/Djurgardens IF O 2.5
Mihaita's great on these Scandinavian leagues. I will probably have one or two other plays in Champions League as well. Will do my research now.

Ok, adding two plays for Champions League:
FC Basel PK
Ajax +1.75
Going with Basel PK because I don't think Cluj is going to score in the game. Their new manager is defense-oriented and really struggling domestically, while Basel has been in good form. And I'm going with Ajax in this case because they have been scoring at will domestically. They have 16 goals in their first 5 games, while Real Madrid has only played 2 games domestically, but has only scored one goal. I think Real will end up winning this game by 1 goal, but wouldn't be surprised to see a draw either.

Bah, made a few bad picks there. Went 2-1.5-0.5 on the day. Didn't think Ajax's offense would be completely shut down in that game. Was lucky to push on half there. And Cluj, scoring twice in the first 12 minutes?? Wowza. Good for them. I'm pretty much even on the day. Should have some plays in MLB later.
