    Germany vs. Australia pregame/ingame talk
    Germany -1 +110
    Aussies +1 -125

    O2.5 +122
    U2.5 -143

With how the first couple days of the tourney have gone I would expect another low scoring game. As well, does anyone think there's value in the draw at +280?

Australia has been superb throughout qualifying but how well do they match up with Germany?

Australia's backline looked shaky against the usa. As long as Craig Moore is playing .. over has a good shot.

Dont worry about what the "square play" is. Bet on what you think will happen

            1. Ballack is injured. Germany has changed their style of play and is fielding a bunch of babies while the Australian team is basically unchanged with the exception of one player.

            2. Loew was a dick and made some crappy comments that have fired up the Socceroos

            3. The world as a whole owes this win to Australia after that Grossi dive in '06

            4. Hewitt beat Federer. Ghana beat Serbia. Li beat Sharapova. Lakers will beat Boston. It is the day of the dogs!!

            5. Everyone on the forum is on Germany. Let me introduce you to my new favourite emoticon:

I should remind you that I am living in Australia at the moment though so take all of what I said with the mandatory homer grain of salt.

The Soccerroo's almost lost to New Zealand, no Thanks. Germany has the quality and talent no matter who they field out there.

Heres my take, Germany will possess the ball more, much more. But, when Australia counters who has the quality to score?

Can only see Germany in this one. I don't care if its square or circle the fact is Germany's midfield will control the ball and create chances.

Germany is going to play highly defensive I think. Their 5 4 1 will lead to a higher possession game with fewer scoring opportunites. I know everyone and their mother is on the Over but goals aren't being scored at this years World Cup.

Is anyone liking the Under or am I the only one?

I like the under, but i really don't think Germany are gunna play 541 or defensively. Ghana won their game, and that means a win is really important for germany. This is their easiest group game on paper, and they'll definitely want 3 points. I see them having a lot of possession and quite a few chances. It's the aussies that will play defensively and have 1 or 2 chances from set pieces or on the break. There really is no reason for germany to play defensively since australia don't pose much of a threat.

Nicely said. Im on Germany -1 I just dont see a Germany loss here. Worst case a Draw in which I lose but beleive me if the games ends in a draw, that means Germany lost the chance to win it. I wont give the Aussies credit at all if they were to tie. I dont think its the square play of the day tho. Anybody pick Ghana today??? Serbia and Slovenia were the square plays today and one lost and the other you guys get lucky by the addidas ball.

Give me Germany ML and -1 I love this play!!!!!

Germany will not play with 5 defenders I guarantee you. They're playing a 4-2-3-1 (embellished 4-5-1) with Klose as the striker backed up by a dangerous attacking midfield. I really wouldn't be surprised to see Germany dominate in this match.
The German coach has already stated that he wants to "embarrass opponents with our playing skills". Germany -1 is the play.

Australia has a defensive set up, they will be looking to use their physical strength and push around the younger less experienced members of the Germany team. The 4 back and 2 defensive midfielders holding infront should frustrate the opposition alot. Australia's main threat will come on fast counter attacks and set pieces. The manager is quite versatile, he can surprise opponents tactically, lets see what the apprentice of Hiddink and Advocaat can come up with.

Germany are playing with more unexperienced players than usual and most of them don't have alot of cohesion with each other. But say what you want this is the German national team and should never be underestimated in these competitions.

Indeed. This is the cream of the Bundesliga, versus a team of cast-offs. Only Cahill or Scharzer have the talent to start for a top club side on that team.

Im pretty confident Germany will take the win, I dont see Australia penetrating the German defence. 2-0 Germany.

Also, I had Ghana down as a win
<As a sidenote, my main worry is Germany goalkeeper, as their number one choice had commited suicide and they are using another keeper, although he should have enough practice by now>

Not deutsch at all. An educated guess is
Neuer, Lahm, Friedrich, Mertesacker, Badstuber, Khedira, Schweinsteiger, Trochowski, Ozil, Podolski, Klose.
                                                        Looks likely.
