I'm sorry, but there is a flaw in a sport in which -- how many shots on goal were there in the whole game? A couple? I'm sorry, but it's way too fukking hard to get shots... I don't think anyone wants to see the ball just go back and forth between the whatever yard lines (I'll call it the 20-yard-lines, like in American football)... it is soooooooo frustrating! True, he does his job very well, but him and Messi are very different players with different skill sets, like comparing the 7' centre to a 6' PG. Look at all of the great players who set the world on fire, Maradonna, Pele, Ronaldo, Zidane, none of them were above about 6'1. Great ball control skill on the ground comes with the low centre of gravity offered by short height. I love my football (soccer to you guys) and I love watching nice defensive plays but the Uruguay France game was a shit game.
It's not about liking soccer or not, it was a shit game pure and simple. The fact that it ended up goalless had more to do with both teams lack of impetus in attack rather than the teams executing solid defensive plays.

It was terrible effort on France's part but I was expecting anything more then an sub par effort. Uruguay had to play more conservative which they did so.
