LB, I know it's a couple days away, but any thoughts on Spain-Portugal? I'm considering a fairly strong play on Portugal. I don't see Spain winning this one, and the value on Portugal is huge, IMO.

Lets not forget Portugal hasnt conceded a goal in this tourney yet. They will miss Nani's presence in this match for sure though.

I'm watching the England Germany match right now for the first time- it looks like Gerrard is already giving Germany problems early. From what I've read on here seems like Rooney laid another egg.

Messi will probably have similar success and with much better strikers surrounding him than Gerrard has I see the Germans struggling defensively.

I am shocked that Germany won this game. The score of this game was not representative of how this game went at all. Gerrard and Lampard dominated the midfield, if the Germans give Messi that room they will be finished very quickly.

I know Goat, thats why I played Live England to qualify when it was 2-1 to Germany. And then this disallowed goal and the crossbar in the 2nd half, it all went against them. Still we need to give credit to Germany,
England lost cuz:
1. Defence was very poor, they would lose probably to the likes of Mexico, South Korea etc.
2. Rooney after his come back from injury is a shadow of himself
3. Capello is England coach.

If so, you do realize that if it wasn't for that bullsh*t goal for Argentina that was offsides by a mile and the silly mistake made by Mexico defender for the 2nd as well as the lucky bomb for the 3rd that Tevez blasted in the top right corner - the scoreline of today's game vs Mexico would have been 0-1 instead of 3-1?

The English FA will look hard at the German system.
The winter break. The youth system. The domestic league. The team's preparation for the finals. All worth looking at. England played three international friendlies all year in preparation for this tournament


Time for the english to focus on there own. The problem is that there leagues are all money based and full of foreigners. The fa dont care for the national team but only the leagues and all the money they generate. England will be in for a long wait.

Yeah I do realize Argentina was lucky today, you do need luck to get far into this WC though and that Lampard goal should have made that England game 2-2 and would have been a completley different game because the English needed that goal for confidence.

From what I saw in the Germany match, they were exposed in the midfield, didn't dominate possession like they should have- if they give Messi the same opporutnities that they gave Gerrard and Lampard there is no doubt in my mind he will burn them. And Tevez and Huguine are solid at the front, and will do their job if given the same chances Rooney was given today.

Instead England went into half talking about the goal that got disallowed and weren't talking about how the game was tied 2-2 and what they had to do in the 2nd half. Germany none the less scored twice in the 2nd half which makes the missed goal irrelevant now but it was a huge game changer. Fukk England but fukk the FIFA refs more.
