I have some knowledge on this topic. First off, we're not talking about Rub and Tug.

I used to work myself to death, still do (sometimes). Massage is great for relaxation. IMHO, it's the best value for $$ you can spend.

Have to find somebody good, though. If you don't like the service, don't return visit.

Broadly speaking, two variants to consider. Swedish vs Thai. Swedish is more like a sports-massage. Relaxing but not deep-tissue. Thai is deeper. Thai is more aggressive, a good Thai masseuse will stretch you out.

Thai is USUALLY 20% more expensive but worth it, IMHO. It's part of my weekly routine. If I DON'T get it, I feel out of sorts and too tight.

I've been told, or suggested(because doctors just guess and "suggest" vs physically touching you and trying to feel for themselves what you are describing) to try deep tissue massages in order to fix my neck, shoulder, right-side upper back.

I wasted so much money over a 2 yr span. Tried 3 different ones. One lady was a big ole gal. I thought for sure she would put some muscle into it and really knead my muscles deep, deep down, and get a good stretching out. But, nope. She was as weak and gentle and worthless as the other 2.
And all said they do Deep Tissue Massage, yet all were constantly trying to offer me - and/or did - perform other methods. That cupping zhit is worthless. All the "special" ointments, essential oils, CBD-infused, are all BS, and a way for them to get away from actually putting in any real physical work.

I've found better relief - not much, but slightly better, and cheaper - by watching physical therapist vids on YT, and buying various massage guns, rolling sticks, and foam rollers, and just using generic icy hot, along with a combo of otc pain-meds/anti-inflammatories.
