Net neutrality rules will officially end on Monday April 23
    What does this mean?

The largest corporations in the world will be writing the laws on what sites you can access..

Any web site that is in direct competition with these corporations will be slowed down to a crawl
    or completely inaccessible..........

    Say goodbye to free porn...

Say goodbye to free media sharing...

    Say goodbye to offshore gambling..

And most of all.Say goodbye to privacy as in order to do all of the above you have to be able to track personal internet activity....

But then again, what does this even matter, if they take away shady activity?

Wonderful. This forum, like the jerkoffs in the South, continue to vote against their own interests.

It really is quite a case study.

                                      its only theoretical

but since now companies have the power to throttle bandwith from sites, maybe for example they develop a competing product, if gambling becomes legal, and then throttle all competitors

or maybe, since the government did them a solid and ended net neutrality, they do a solid back and throttle sites the government doesnt like, like gambling sites

dont worry, as long as the orange toddler uses it, twitter is safe

Hopefully that's all it ends up being. My guess is... very specific groups of people will end up getting shafted... but probably not most people.

These posters have likely spent more time on the internet without the neutrality rules than they have with the rules, and they never even knew when it switched.

Doesn't mean there won't be shady ISPs but when the lawsuits come in, those guys will back off as well.

Denouncing the GOP-controlled agency's vote to repeal net neutrality as "shameful" in response to Pai's announcement on Thursday, Democratic FCC commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel urged Americans to keep "making a ruckus until internet openness is once again the law of the land."

Senate votes to save net neutrality rules

The Senate on Wednesday voted to reinstate the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) net neutrality rules, passing a bill that has little chance of advancing in the House but offers net neutrality supporters and Democrats a political rallying point for the midterm elections.

Democrats were able to force Wednesday’s vote using an obscure legislative tool known as the Congressional Review Act (CRA). CRA bills allow Congress, with a majority vote in each chamber and the president's signature, to overturn recent agency moves.

Three Republicans — Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and John Kennedy (La.) — joined the 49 Senate Democrats to pass the bill 52-47.

They argue that without the net neutrality regulations, which require internet service providers to treat all web traffic equally, companies such as Verizon and Comcast will be free to discriminate against certain content or boost their partner websites.

Is it all similar to Y2K hysteria? I will be conducting a study where I carefully spend hours online, visiting various websites with the words "hub" , "you" , "tube" , and "hamster" . The purpose is to see if at any point I notice the dreadful "buffering" or I have to pay for services I used to watch for free prior to today. Remember, this dedicated time is strictly in the name of research. As of now, all is good and remains normal. The sky is not falling.
